Looking for Action

Jay,

You should have thought of me. We should get together at Hollywood Billiards for some cheap practice sets. I've been going in on Wednesday nights.

Chris

I did think of you Chris, and I was ducking you. :)

But since you called me out, here I come!

Did I mention I only play English Billiards on a 7 X 14 snooker table?

Jay,
I'm sure you play about 3-4 balls better than me, but I will play you some cheap sets ($200 or so). The only stipulation I have is that you have to fly to Georgia because I'm not travelling. :D

Well, you picked the best of the litter. I already told you how I would play that crew. I'm not saying I won't play, but I'm not quite ready to take on the best in L.A. If any of these guys are looking for heads up action, I'll be glad to bring my little boy Tang along. He's out of stroke but can still hit 'em a little.

Once again Wayne and Rich, I need either 8-7 and the break or 8-6. Take your pick. Phil only needs to give me one ball 8-7. All others, including you, can play some even. All of the above, Rich included, can play some Banks dead even. How's that for a guy who has only played once in the last year? I will gamble....cheap. :)

Hi Jay, thanks for the offer. I am currently retired for a month while my daughter is in Europe. I am pet sitting and she has weimaraner puppy that is keeping me busy. She returns late next week and I will start hitting balls again after that. I am sure Rich will play you some (if he isn't busy robbing Phil). I will let you know when I am playing again and we can work something out. Maybe a partners game could be worked out with me and Rich against you and Tang.
I don't know anyone who plays Banks, in fact the only Bank game I ever watched in L.A. was you robbing Juan at Goodtimes. Juan hangs out House of Billiards in Santa Monica and you might be able to convince him to donate to you again.

Okay, I finally broke down and made myself practice for one whole week. I have played about 15 hours in the last five days, and I'm starting to feel it again. Eureka, I can still play pool. I'm not just another pretty face anymore.

In case anyone thinks I'm all talk, now is your chance to find out. I play about 8-4 under the top One Pocket players, and probably the best 9-Ballers could give me the 5 ball. Once again I am a shortstop speed player and proud of it.

I am looking for some cheap action around the L.A. area just to get in good stroke. I know I need to play someone now and test myself. Hell, if Billy can still play, why not Jay. He's about a 100 years older than me. :)

I am not looking to play any $1,000 sets yet, just some 40 or 50 a game One Hole or $100 to $200 a set 9-Ball. You might talk me into betting 50 a rack Banks (short rack) or 100 a rack (long rack) Banks. NO ONE in L.A. is barred from playing me Banks. NO ONE! (except Parica).

If you are a very good player, I am not embarassed to ask for weight (Wayne this means you). But I only want a fair game, not the nuts. One Pocket Rich gave me 8-7 and the break a couple of years ago. So that is about my speed. Tang gives me 9-7 and 9-6 when we played.

Most shortstop speed players, I will play even. I know you're out there, just let me know where and when.

Jay
You and Johnny Henderson doing a little woofing on here the last couple months has got me interested in really practicing. You all came to Phoenix and I went to LA for a little practice. Maybe I can make a trip to see you all this winter --- or maybe you two could catch a ride on that 'copter and take a little vacation so I could get a "pay day ;) ;) :) :), from Jay" (seems we are all turning into poets):D

I always mean to get out to your neck of the woods, Jack... I'd be happy to "donate" to the cause as well!!

although would walk away with a new cue and a lot less money..

Anytime you want to visit, come on over, check out the shop and cues going, and we can bang a few around on the table. Had a AZBr from Chicago stay 4 days earlier this month and having another visiting tomorrow.

Was just having a little fun with Jay ;) - we all (Jay & Johnny) go way back. I'm not a poet. A pool player and cuemaker but sure not a poet. I liked your poetry. And for action - he is all yours:D :D

Vetteski, that's no problem. I'll hop right on the next jet and fly down there to play you. I only have to win three or four sets to break even. RIGHHHHHTTT!

This is one game that will have to wait. We'll hook up one of these days at a poker tournament.

I played Juan at HOB also. He banks good, but I got lucky again.

I like your idea for a partners game. You play Tang's speed and Phil plays better than me. If you guys want to lay 300 to 250 in a Race To Four, I'll try it out. That ain't much, only 6-5.

I will play Rich again with the same game, 8-7 and the break. And when you're in stroke, I'll play you the same way. That's not much weight for good players like you.

Okay, I think I've woofed enough on here. Pretty soon people will start calling me Jay McWoofer.

Jack, Jack, Jack! I know how you play! Remember I knew you before you ever made a cue. With you, I'm only interested in buying a cue. But nice try anyway. I'm old, but not senile.

You have action with me again. You snuck in on me when I was dead out of stroke. I was smart though and only bet you 20 a game. Ha Ha. Now we can up the ante a notch if you like. Stop by anytime. My room is always open for you Lou. Hey that rhymes. :)

You might get me in a Pay Ball game sometime. You know, 2,3,4,5,6,7. Like $5 a ball and $10 on the 7, double on run-outs. I played that game once or twice in my youth. On a 10' American style table only, no "oceans" please.
I saw Wiseman play David Gomez this game, same rules but for $50 a ball. They went back & forth for a short while with Wiseman slightly winner. Then--I believe it was a 5 pack, might have been 6, by Ronnie & Gomez unscrewed.
