I am putting together a promotional kit and the printing company who is helping me with this came up with the design pictured below. Although it is ok, I was wondering if anyone could come up with any ideas for me from this highly creative group! I like it to be bold, eyecatching, not pink. My favorite color is blue, but it doesnt have to be blue. Please help!

you might wanna make the cue horizontal instead, and have that be the line between your name and your address.

Oh no. Another "not pink" girl. ;)

(Meiko hates pink too)

Girlwon,
Hey, what about a "Paw"-print on the logo somewhere. Sort of like the Clemson Tigers use. Simple design, you can even make it blue so Clemson won't sue you.

I like the logo. :)

The font is perfect, bold yet simple and to the point.

I'm wondering what it would look like if the cue stick was laying horizontally in between your first name and last name.

And as another idea to toss out there, instead of having a larger orange-striped ball on the right, maybe make it smaller and use it to dot the "i'" in your last name.

Just some suggestions. If you didn't change a thing, I like it just fine the way it is.

Rectangular logos are easier to incorporate on websites and things, oftentimes. Unless your logo is a square and can be seen and ready at 100px or so. That cue sticking up makes sizing the logo down and making good use of space difficult while maintaining legibility, etc.

Logos typically have several variants, too: for a website, for a business card.. what is this for? It has your name and address... is it a pseudo-business card?

So far as what colors to use, what is your market? Who are you sending this to?

There is a thing called "color psychology" and big marketing businesses will spend big bucks finding out which colors to use on their products.

In general...

Men prefer red. Look at products in the automotive section.

Women prefer blue. Look at products in the women's section.

Products for both men and women will have red and blue.

Upscale is black. Go to a high class "everything costs a fortune" store and notice a lot of products have black colors.

Instead of spending big bucks on "color research", look at what colors are used in stores on big name national products. Look at products which are likely to be purchased by a particular type of person.

Hint: Billiards manufacturers are not big businesses which market their products to the masses, so don't go by what colors they use.

The layout is good, but the graphics look hokey. I think the font on your name looks too stretched. Did you pay for them to design for you? I agree, there are much better designers on AZB. This looks to be a mailing label? Oh, of course it is, that's the name of the pdf.

Personally, I kinda like it. The idea above of making the cue horizontal is good.

i honestly dont like it so much. I dont know what u payed for it, but it looks like a quick 2 minut job. The cue doesnt look like a cue (maybe its a j/b cue? but the proportions are weird, the top looks like a ball, its not straightend.

im sure non professional logo makers and azb posters her could make a better job. are u in a hurry?

starting from monday, i could spend a day on working on some idea's, for free ofcourse, i got to much time in my hands anyway. im sure other posters would mind to spend a small hour on giving u some idea's.

maybe u could tell us what the use of it would be?

website? visitcard? do u got examples u liked? colours? just the more info u post, the better the examples u will get.

I noticed whoever did the logo misspelled the word "billiards" (they've got "billards"). That would kinda make me think about shopping around. My .02 is that you can get something quite a bit better - you should have a logo that's as attractive as you are.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. They made me a logo for the promotional kit as mentioned, but this is also for mailing labels, business cards, letterhead. I thought it too was a bit simple and the cue a bit undone looking. These people are helping me out with this design, the printer is a client of mine for what I do, and he is helping me out this way with one of his designers. I am supposed to meet with them tomorrow, Friday at 230. Thanks again, everyone!

Hey Tina!

If you are a Touring Professional, or think you will be soon, you should definitely put that on everything!! ;)

Wow, thanks so much for the nice post. I didnt catch that! Thanks! I would really like something not so simple looking, and a bit more eyecatching!

Having the cue horizonal is better than vertical. But I kinda like the Idea of having the cue jacked up at an angle that perfectly forms with your name on the ending letters of your name. Sorta like a 30 degree angle...with the nine ball at the tip of the stick.

I believe red is the most eye catching color. Mc Donalds paid a lot of money to find out the the two most eye catching colors are in fact red and yellow. Think about it.

Yay! I love this kinda stuff....

Helloooo....
I'm Dea, nice to meet you! I will be working on something to post, asap... thanks to Terry for bringing this thread to my attention, realizing how much of a slacker I am at reading posts! - and feeling I might actually be able to do it, haha.

(:
Rock on.

Dea

All I could come up with in the half hour I had to work on it. Maybe you'll see it before you have to go in the morning! (Or like it at all, haha) Sorry it isn't that great, but it's all I could come up with in 30 minutes.

Not so bad for a quick job. Some good suggestions were made on here. Got some creative folks on this site. And great to have someone catch that spelling error. Don't know how often I've seen that one.
Maybe make that pool ball into a Nine Ball. After all that is the game on the WPBA. My opinion is that with few a few minor improvements it will serve it's purpose. Don't get to hung up on creating the perfect logo Tina. More important is to get your promo stuff out there and into people hands. I agree with a couple of posters, better for you to have a good photo or two that accompany your presentation. Worked well for Jennifer Barreta and you could give her the eight on looks.
Find a good photographer that dresses you well and shows you in your best light. A hot photo of you with your cue isn't all bad. You got it kid, flaunt it. That'll work a lot better than the logo to get you the attention (and sponsorhip) you want. Of couse, nothing matters out there like winning. If you can hang with the big girls, you will be recognized. That's what ultimately worked for Jennifer. She can play!
Sorry I didn't PM you, but it's too late now.
