What is reasonably priced, $2000? Just curious, I do see a lot of new ones around $2700.

Thats what the cost now from SW and waiting 9-10 grueling years. I think the poster has got to realize no one in their right mind is going to "make reasonable" a cue they legitimately waited that long for. Call Vince and see how much he gets for one.........it ain't $2000. Roy Mallot wants alot more than that as well and pretty much sells anything he gets

Good luck in your search for reasonable

Crazy

First of all Roy Mallot is crazy as well the prices he asks for SW's.
Second I think that Eric just wants decently priced cues. Just because he has a bit more extra cash than we do he does not want hijacked priced SW's.

If anyone knows what a cues worth I think Eric would be the one. SW are over priced to begin with and thats why there's always a bundle of them for sale...people tend to flip them faster than any cues I have ever seen.

Obviously the poster is legendary around here, but that being said, current unchalked SW's 05 and newer the buyer was bagged pretty close to 1800-2000 after a looooooong wait. I'm saying $2700 is not that bad.........I've paid it for the right cues with rings and decent wood combos. And yes they will be worth it when Laurie decides she's had enough and hangs it up....

Just so you know, I just received 2 new cues from SW with ebony noses triple veneers and all the rings and the prices were close to $2500 each from SW due to their new pricing. I waited 9 yrs to get them. With SW's new prices and increased waiting time I think prices on the secondary market will steeply increase! Ooops, I forgot to add those prices included Moori tips and fancy joint protectors as well.

I guess $2700 for an '08 or '09 SW is steep but is OK and the proof for that is that many are willing to pay that much for a six point SW.

On the other hand there are many cues from '05 and a bit later when prices straight from SW where less. If someone has SWs from that time it is worth of for them to let their SW go for $2400 or so.

Finally, the bottom line is that I would surely save up for an SW for a few months or a bit more and get one NOW before they'll prices will sky-rocket.

So if you bought a 6-pointer in 1994-95 for $700, it's ok to sell it for $1100-1200 ?? :scratchhead:

The general rule has always been that the high demand cues like SW have brought roughly $100 per year of wait over retail (new). The wait is now so long and combined with the last pricing increase pretty much KO'ed that, though. There's not as much of a margin on them anymore. I also think there's a bit less of a market for SWs now than 3-4 years ago. Seems like more sellers of SW than buyers, but that holds true with most cues in this economy.

My Guess

It's a strong ad.

There's a good chance that FatBoy has filled his order already, depending on how many cues it is that he wanted.

Guessing the average?

$2250

Definitely not as the inflation/devaluation of money is at around that rate so you'd be breaking even.

What I wanted to say is that it is worth it for someone who bought a cue for $1800 3 years ago and sells it today for $2500. I guess that is something all of us would be happy with.

Furthermore, what you mentioned later is also something that gives some sense to this thread - as you said there are more sellers than buyers. That always creates some sort of a race in pricing and will push prices down and gives more chance to anyone getting a nice SW as - if what you said is true (so if there are more sellers) - there will be more SW owners contacting the person in the market for one.

Finally, occasionally you may find threads in which people are looking to save 5-7 bucks on a cue tip or maybe 50 on ten pcs (with which I have no problem, everyone is here to make good deals that are good for both parties) so saving hundreds on a cue in this price range is also reasonable - especially considering this uneven and unsettled market of Southwest cues.

I have to say, I personally have seen 5-7 people trying to sell their SW for every person looking to buy one. There was a really nice green veneered one going for like 2450 awhile and no one even batted an eyelid so the seller had to try to raffle it off.

Why are there always these debates about how much a person is asking for or how much a person is willing to pay?
Fatboy has stated what he is looking for and I bet he KNOWS what the market is like, and he knows what the markup is.
So it comes back to do you have the type of cue he is looking for?
otherwise I doubt he cares to read the rest of the bullshit.
I was hoping to see some descriptions, since I may want to buy one.

I'm working on a deal to trade my SW for a small lot of cues. If it falls through, I'll email pics.

I know fatboy KNOWS what these are worth, what's more I know cueaddicts has no problem with knowing what one or another SW is worth. Topping all that off he also let me know something that was interesting which I would have never found out if we did not start 'bullshitting' (as you put it) about all this. Here is what I am talking about:

Finally, I never hijacked anyone's thread here who had an exact price put on one of his cues up for sale - as I hate seeing that as well - but this time fatboy was looking for cues in a price range what was unsure, also I myself was unsure about SWs value and I am here on this forum because I am interested in what others think. I am interested in what cueaddicts thinks about SW values and I am also interested in what you said - if I wasn't then I wasn't here replying.

Should fatboy have any problems with what we were negotiating here, I am sure he will let me know and I'll edit all my posts ASAP.

I have a nice 1999 SW with 2 shafts for $2250 if anyone is looking for one. butt and 1 shaft is straight as arrow and 1 has a very very very slight taper roll. It's the straightest SW that I've seen to date. Check my site if you are interested for details..www.customcuesandtips.com .listed for $2400 but will take $2250.00 in this market.

Personally, I prefer the older SW...they seem to play a little better than the new SW that I've tried.

Regards,
Duc.

Duc,

Your web site is brutally slow, just thought I would let you know.

Also, bump for a SW for FB.
