The point is that you and everyone else shouldn't try to make this out to be more than it is. It's not scientific and is hampered by many factors of which the biggest is the guy shooting.

You were trying to show the differences between the two, correct? The video really accomplished little other then to show that the price difference does not make any sense. If Kamui is better which has yet to be proven then we will need a robot to do the test or Ralf Souquet. So your answer is yes, get a better player to do it who is perhaps at a pro level with a more consistent stroke on the test shots.

I heard people saying they chalked up with Kamui and shot 100 balls before missing. Well I can shoot dozens of balls chalking with Masters once and not miscue if I am shooting hangers. Any shot with extreme spin deserves a good chalking before you shoot, if not your just asking for trouble. IMO when you were shooting shots with the Masters you were getting more spin and action on the ball too. :cool:

I was really just giving you a hard time. 9 guys out of 10 would have filmed that 20 times and acted like it was the 1st take. I give you credit for just hitting record and going with it.
 
I think the video is fine... The intent was to move the ball using draw and follow with extreme outside or inside... It was not a demo of technique just spin.... John says he was on the extreme edge of where he can hit ie the miscue point because of tip/surface contact... Some miscues are to be expected especially on the long runs between chalkings

I did laugh when the first shot was a miscue but props to John for NOT just starting over....

I think the Jury is still out and will be for awhile on how much better Kamui chalk is if any... but the placebo effect doesn't just work for medicine... If you find something that you think is better and that it helps you do something at a higher level then the confidence boost will go a long log way in cashing those checks...

I enjoyed your raw and uncut video,showed some balls just do do it and post it up.you did it to compare different types of chalk for performance sake.good job!!

now i will bust on you a little. your stroke is to tight and you spend too much effort trying to keep your cue under control.energy that can be delivered to the ball is being wasted controlling the cue.most of your shots that you tried to show stroke were pushed punch shots.loosen your right hand,get the cue in your fingers.quit with the back hand english stuff until you learn the feel of the cue releasing trough the ball.when you learn to get the cue released you will be able to to hit what is considered a heavy ball.many of those spinners that you were doing 1.5 tips can be done with .5 when your stroke is releasing.looking forward to you next vid and keep your head down.

Everyone needs to watch this video. I mean the setup, the careful chalking, the placing of the chalk on the camera and the explanation of not touching it, this is awesome, Ben Stiller should be taking notes.

Actually I had not planned to compare them at all. I was winging it with no real plan.

You are free to interpret this how you like. Scientifically it is completely worthless to determine which brand of chalk is better. Unlike most I have no bias one way or the other. I think 25-28 dollars is a lot for this product in comparison to everything else on the market. But if it does do what is claimed then over time it can be worth it, statistically speaking.

I like the Kamui chalk and perhaps I will do another video when I can settle down and plan it out a bit better. I don't want to spend too much time because I am not on Kamui's payroll. And I doubt I will ever be either.
 
John, stick to case-making, as they are some of the finest cases in the world. Do not, I repeat DO NOT ever try your hand at instructional DVD's :grin:.

Yeah. I did say it would be a video of what NOT to do. I think the real value in instructional videos comes in the editing. :-)

I damn near pissed myself on the first shot, you need to add a warning on that.

But I respect the fact you posted it and appreciate the first look I got at that chalk. If you stay down and follow through more on draw shots you will get LOADS more backspin, if you watch the video you will notice you pull the cue back really fast after contact on draw shots. It might have been a "heat of the moment" "my employees are about to lynch me" thing though and if so disregard.

I agree. For a split second I thought about stopping and starting over but then I thought what better irony is there.

I know I was being "punchy" on the stroke and also standing up to high. It's terrible. I really should have warmed up a little bit and put the glove on before starting. It was brutally hot. Next year I am going to put air conditioning in the whole place rather than endure another summer without it.

That said I think that given the slow and humid conditions and the punchy stroke the ball was getting a lot of spin anyway. Check the ball reactions when it does make it back to the rail. The way it lengthens out indicates the amount of spin on it.

I do have another video where I am putting a little better stroke on the ball. It's under David Plattner's practice drill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8DwmGMsa5k (this one was using Masters chalk and done in winter) ;-)

Where are all these newbie trolls coming from? Is AZB being somehow beamed into idiotsville? I don't know about the rest of you but I am seeing a huge increase in "new" posters making smartassed comments when they have under 10 posts. Makes me think that some people we already know have figured out a way to get as many accounts as they want and how to use them all at the same time.

Are you insane? Talk about passive-aggressive. Get a life mark and stop trying to be a half-troll. It is clear that you don't like me but you lack the cojones to go head to head with me. So you dance around making sniping comments and then offering apologies for them.

The video I did with my FRIENDS in Hong Kong was spur of the moment joke and completely harmless. In case you haven't checked a calendar recently it's not 1642 anymore and this isn't your little puritanical world.

Regarding gambling. I am sure I could beat you and really that is all that matters.
