At one time I was a stake horse.
Then, I revived the world straight pool championships.
I'm currently working on a project that was covered in this months Billiards digest.
Lots of stuff in between.
And yes, I am against the culture of gambling within pool. It has done irreparable harm, IMO. The reasons are complex, well reasoned, and again, just my opinion. It's also not appropriate to ne discussed in this thread.

So in answer to my question -- have you played for high stakes, I'm guessing the answer is no.
Look, when I said I don't really care who you are I meant that only because on AZ I really only care about the substance of what people write, not their accomplishments. So whenever I read the "do you know who I am" line it always gets me going a bit.
Couple that with the new thing around here -- everybody has to pick a side. Everything has to be personal. Either Lou is your enemy or JB is. I partially understand the animosity between JB and Lou. I guess it has become personal. That doesn't mean that this should be the case for everybody else. I guess I just don't understand all the piling on.
But then again...you mentioned you were involved with 14.1, so now my suspicion is that maybe you and Lou didn't see eye to eye regarding something in the 14.1 world. Oh who knows?
Lastly, I think it's MUCH MUCH easier to sit back and be a stake horse than it is to step up and PLAY the game.

I gotta tell ya, John, I loves me that table! Keeps one honest, without being overly "in yo' face" rejecting. As long as you bear down with good fundamentals, the ball will go.
