Doesn't mean anything because he isn't betting his own. If it were his own cash then this would be significant.

Having said that I would not want to have that much of other peoples money on my shoulders - it is a strange kind of pressure.

Not that playing for 10K isn't enough :)

Is it salmon or chum???

Some play better on other people's dough, and others play better on their own dough.

One unnamed pro told me one time that he played better on other people's dough so that he did not have to worry about losing his rent money or money he needed to pay bills. The pressure of that weighed heavy on him when he was in action.

Another player might play better on his own dough because they need that money. They're hungry for a win.

I think everybody is different when it comes to this. :)

I just hope this doesn't turn into a excuse not to play. Example: Lou wants more, JB says no so Lou uses it as a ultimatum not to play.

I'm not saying that is the case, I'm just considering the angles.

True - from what I have seen and read Keith was pretty sporty at both, probably still is.

Met Keith in Vegas at the VNEA about 5 -6 years ago, he played a buddy of mine. Nice guy and funny as hell.

Funny part is my buddy had no clue who Keith was. He asked me later and I said yes I knew. I loaned him TCOM when we returned home.

Cheers,
Gerry

I cant believe that it would make any difference to Keith if it was his money or somebody was backing him.

IMO Keith and Louie Roberts were cut from the same piece of cloth. The money had nothing to do with it, the were both action junkies. Louie used to say that money was "tickets" as in tickets to ride (E-tickets at Disney was the best rides). For Keith, I bet it was a way to keep score but it meant little to him as well. If he lost, hell he would win again easily somewhere else.

No disrespect to either.

I have seen others get in terrible games, and still played trying to "outrun the nuts".

I dont think this is the case with Lou or JB, its all about pride.

Did you call Lou and ask him if he is betting his own? Just wondering where you are getting your inside information from.

Why not? It doesn't mean anything afterall. No biggie. Just playing for 25k and since it wouldn't all be your own -- it wouldn't be a big deal. Just like practicing right???

So...does it mean something or not?

Yeah - I probably shouldn't have been so passive because it is a lot of dough.

But you have to admit - if he was putting up his own it would be much more ballzee.

That was my point.

If John says no, I'd back up his decision. John asked Lou to raise the bet multiple times and Lou declined. Why should John agree to raise the bet, when Lou declined before? It's a pretty chicken **** move if Lou is doing it on someone else's dime.

To be honest, they need to just play and get it over with. Regardless of who wins, it will be no different after. Either way, I see Lou being more Lou-ish and JB being more JB-ish after. It's just how it is.

How do we know that JB is betting his own --- maybe he has the same Chinese backer that KT was looking into for the IPT

I don't know. At some point I don't think the dollar amount matters.

If I was playing for 2,000 of my own money or 4,000 of my own money I think I would be shaking an equal amount.

I'm not so sure that 10k vs 25k is all that much different either once they get playing.

You have to appreciate the fact that John has been requesting that Lou raise the bet for months now and Lou just said let's do it.

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.

He's said many times that he's betting his own dough. You can choose not to believe it but I think John is a man of his word.

He very well may have a backer. I was told JB is posting his own and I was told Lou already has a backer. That's just what I was told and things tend to get changed from mouth to mouth.

Really? Barton will crawfish out of it don't worry he always has and always will. I have experience with this happening with me and Barton and many others do also.

Barton said forever he would take all side action no matter the amount up to 33k so betting 25k should be a breeze in the park now shouldn't it.Barton keeps asking Lou to bet more and now Lou says ok so bet 25k.Sounds like Lou found his stroke and the chicken wing stroke will back out now.

Reminds me of the story of a monkey and a football or maybe it was the story between an egg roll and a samurai or the chicken crossing the road. Who knows I geuss. Good luck to the backers on both sides of this match.

line even money
2-1
3-1
4-1
5-1
