Magnificent 7

I wish I had Mike Sigel here with me as I write this post about him because he'd probably provide enough material to write a cool pool dissertation.

Though Mike and Larry Hubbart did go on the road for a spell, Sigel's more known for his tournament play. He was on the front page of every single pool magazine for years.

Mike was the technical director for the movie "The Color of Money," and he can be seen in various scenes throughout the film.

One of the best articles I've ever read about Sigel was from Cigar Aficionado magazine. Check it out: The Poet of Pool.

It was kind of neat seeing him play pool this past weekend and for a spell had a commanding consecutive game win. Was it 30 games in a row?

He's can explain 50 different ways to make one shot, and he will be an integral part of the Magnificent 7.

Keith McCready aka "Earthquake" has been in hibernation since September 2006, but he's raring to go, full of excitement to be a part of this Magnificent 7.

Keith wasn't known as a tournament player for much of his pool-playing career. Though tournaments were a gathering place for pool players, the real activities happened after hours when players matched up and engaged in games of stakes.

Most of Keith's triumphs on a field of green were never documented by the pool print media. There was no Internet, no video cameras to document pool the way it's done today. Word of mouth was sometimes the only vehicle for dissemination of pool news.

Phil Capelle, renown author of instructional pool books, was one of the first pool print media members to write about Keith. It is still today one of my favorite articles: Keith McCready -- The Rebirth of a Legend.

JAM, I am loving your pics and credentials info. Thanks,

It should be me thanking you. I cannot think of anybody else who has helped the veteran pool players as much as you. Your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed. You treat everybody, including folks on the bottom of the pool chain like me, with respect and kindness. It's actually quite refreshing. Though we have never met in person, your enthusiasm and charm beam right through the phone.

You're not only a smart businessman, but you know how to make things happen that benefit others. Thank you for making this pool world shine a little brighter! :)

WOW JAM, I'm flattered that you would say those kind things about me. I maybe don't deserve all of them but its nice to hear good things every now and then :)

Jenny I have met Mark once and just missed him a couple of weeks ago in Denver. I don't think you will be disappointed. Mark I hope this works out for everyone involved, good luck.
P.S. Billiards Ink is awesome and will be perfect.

This is a nice room. But more importantly the owners and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
And you can get a large cup of coffee for .50 !
And they don't poke fun at my mighty and now legendary Lucasi cue.

Thanks to Mark Cantrill, this looks like it's going to be fun.

I am honored to be selected as one of chosen ones in the Magnificant Seven.

This will be my inaugural stepping-out event. I've sort of been MIA for a while, and I'm really looking forward to this.

I've dusted the cobwebs off my cue case, and as of today, I'm going to be hitting balls with my Madden cue, gearing up for the big showdown in Colorado.

Earthquake is back. Can't wait. :)

SWEEEEEEEET! slackers beware, the man is back!

Keith is this a one time gig? or are you going to play tournaments, be a touring pro, and gamble?

I'm not Keith, but will he be gambling? You betcha! ;)
If I can get the breaks, the last 4, ball in hand after the break, and 6 on the wire racing to 7 I will take The Earthquakes $$ probably half the time. Sounds like a fair bet to me. I don't want to play cheap sets either, I'm thinking in the region of $15-$20 sets. I'll bethis mouth is watering now :)

lol, oh stop. Stop and then stop some more :) It's totally awesome what you have been doing the last few years, and this latest event to bring out Keith and others is just another feather in your cap. Best of luck. :p

Great that you are back. Pool wasn't the same without you.

Good luck.

This should sell out quickly, for those fortunate enough to have the means. Great event idea, excellent agenda!
