Thats right $100 a year..like a cover charge at a fine bar..

Only good clientele will be there..easier to manage and

its supports the forum..and would curve a lot of rants..

Whats your thoughts..sa

Well I tell ya, I think its a good idea. However AZB will lose alot of of website hits andthis affects the sponsorship they get. I'm not sure if membership will offset what they lose in sponsorship, Hell they may make more $$.
However not to talk for Mike Gerry or anyone else of AZB this website was started to make info available to the pool fan and I believe that this is still their goal and so as good of an idea as this is I am not sureit goes with the philosophy, JMO

Bad idea.

You want a mixed neighborhood: the wealthy, the poor, the eccentric, the handicapped, the normal, the couples, the singles, the gays, the heteros, the runners, the slugs, the teetotalers, the alcoholics, the techies, the red necks, the hotties and the not so hot.

Makes for a much better party :-)

The site would go way down in usage.

Information from people not willing to pay the membership would be lost.

Most new players who are actually getting into pool more seriously wouldn't pay and would lose out on tons of information great for beginners.

Those new players are also a big portion of the pool related market, i wouldn't have bought a predator cue if i didn't search for reviews online and stubbled upon this site.

It would support the forum, for the first year. After that i may not know how long the site would be around. The majority of people willing to pay would be people selling stuff. If the buyers aren't around to buy then the sellers will go to.

You'll be left with only the die hard AZB fans.

I think despite the random threads that are just plain stupid, AZB does a great job at sharing useful information that translates to more pool related sales.

If you want to support AZB, buy from the AZB marketplace.

They have great prices and you'll know that you're helping keep this forum alive.

weee..damn..kinda agree with you Lou..SA

Absolute ridiculous idea! But you probably realize that.
Seems rather strange coming from someone who is not voluntarily donating $35.

Thats what I was thinking...

personally I like to choice to sponsor through donations, or not.

the entertainment value is priceless

if we charged , we'd never hear from lunatics like thewheelingkid. The entertainment value of stupididity like that is priceless

and yes , I CAN spell stupidity

Someone will just build something free or users will just post somewhere else and for those who'd decide to pay, well, nothing ever really good goes on behind closed doors. With a declining pool population you've got to keep things like this open.

Do a search for ruck parts or gun parts and ow to fix it or install it and you get forums with picture you cant open unless your a member do you spend 100 to see if its the right answer or try look some where else. In research i belong to 40 70 website forums but only use 5 forums because most were stupid copy and pasted from another forum.

first month free, then if you like I could see a donation $40 and get a free shirt.

If you make money off of the sight give a little back. If you like to stir the pot with extra bs then get banned or limited post per month, per week, per day till decided we the forum dont want you .

Let's see, having been a member here since April of '04, with over 4300 posts, and a great reputation...I think I have pretty much darn well earned the right to post without having to pay for it. The Admin/Mods will smote me if I get outta line...and that is all I need to answer to.

Truth is, some folks here cannot afford the $35 Club Membership, let alone a $100 Annual Membership. But just because they cannot afford it, doesn't mean that they do not have valid content to offer. When you begin to propose these types of restrictions, you are on a very slippery slope to a Caste/Class hierarchy.

It's obviously Mike's site to do with as he wishes, but I quite frankly cannot see him entertaining the idea...something akin to selling one's soul and all. Personally, I find your proposal offensive.
