If this "tour of duty" for the USA Mosconi Cup nominees doesn't inspire them, I don't know what will.
Do you think the experience of this "bivouac" will change them in any way?
Joey Aguzin
Overall I like the idea for its effort, but to me this is all going over the top for pool playing.
Yes, it's novel, but just because it hasn't "been tried before" doesn't mean it works.
Here's what I LIKE about this approach:
1) Brings the players together so as to establish good team rapport.
2) Instills discipline and systematic training
3) Duplicates team-based competition situations.
Here's what I DON'T LIKE like about this approach
1) This type of preparation does NOT necessarily suit all players equally.
(Some might resent such "extreme" training).
2) It seems a bit too early for this. October 2014 is really a good beginning timeframe.
3) Can the team continue and maintain this type of traveling/training all the way to December?
There's going to be adjustments on the roster, folks.
I have a feeling Mr. Wilson will watch the players as they go through this training stage.
This is all being used as a test to see who "wants it" under Mr. Wilson's "test."
Don't be surprised if new names are eventually substituted.
A player or two is going to feel all this extra preparation is just plain silly and will give his place to someone else.
Remember, this is America. Our culture only allows for so much do-it-for-our-country energy; especially among our younger generation.
I would hate to hear later that some on the team were simply "playing along" to all the patriotic stuff when in reality all they cared
about was playing MC pool, plain and simple.
Nonetheless, kudos to Mark for taking the helm and doing
something.
