Yes, to the same extent that Pete Rose was allowed to bet on baseball. Ethically speaking, such bets amount to "insider trading" and are equally repulsive.
As noted previously, it would be easy to get action if one wanted it. Many legal British bookmakers like Ladbrokes, William Hill, and Stan James make a book on pool, inclusive of the Mosconi Cup matches. In fact, even Americans can have an online account with these bookmakers.

I know I start some threads implying or to get people thinking but this time it was an honest question. I can't believe the players would take a chance on ruining one of the best pool events...although Buddy was there. Sometimes history repeats it self. Johnnyt
There was no dump, they just played like s---t. I dont think they are smart enough to pull it off. Besides that they tried to get Earl to do that once before and he said FU back then too.
are you sure? I had an acct with Stan James and everything was going good and then we (the USA) arrested some online gambling big wig at a Texas airport? on a STOPOVER on his way to Paraguay or some such place.
For a month or two i was able to use a canadian address but then it was over-NO BETS would be taken from a USA IP address period. If that has changed great!

At one point a mutual friend of ours used my acct to hit a 4-5 match parlay for several K . He hit more stuff and i hit more stuff and they actually barred me from betting on pool. I then composed one of my best ever letters pleading for mercy-using every psychological ploy i thought would work on the guy. He let me back in but then within a few months it was over as i posted before.
This was at least 5-6 yrs ago and things change quickly so i may not be current on the present policies either

No. It's pertinent. Maybe someone will come with facts, maybe it will end up as fart air that evaporates. All this speculation may have come from Pluto, maybe not. But it DOES smell.

Really, go look at all the troll threads started by trolls, and this one fits right in there. So, lets accuse the American Team of dishonesty and dumping... yeah, nothing like a good tar and feather to make everyone feel better about themselves because their team lost. Geez, give it a rest already. They lost. Heck, I would not even have known about their lost without the power of AZB, it's not like it was reported anywhere else in the states.
Johnny T maybe you were not at Mosconi but I was every day the whole two and a half days you should not accuse SVB of not being in the stands because he was a fair amount. Earl however I never saw in the stands

NO im talking about about 20 years ago when they dumped off the tourney in vegas, Earl was the only one to say NO.
I might add that the casino was taking bets on the tournament and the dumps killed all hope of pool going mainstream. One of if not the #1 reason pool never grew. Johnnyt
