Meucci factory seconds

If it is the cue I am thinking yes it is real, please post a link of the cue and I will tell you for sure!

if it is authentic it will have a noticable defect in the graphics or logo. It will have FACT SEC stamped into the forearm.

Not true all the time! Bob's daughter owns Budget Billiards and she sells them from time to time unstamped but it is stated in the description that it is indeed a factory 2nd!

with the quality of the factory firsts coming from meucci, i'd be really scared to see what a factory second looks like!!!

Those are the ones that are sent to dealers and the defect is dicovered, usually a smeared logo.

Quality control is not Meucci's strong suit...

Not a question about seconds as such, but I'm thinking about buying a piston power 4. Does anyone know if these are any good? Also, when were they made? Were they made during the time meucci were crap?

Talking of which, is it just the case the quality of finish etc went down when the factory relocated, our did the HIT of the cue suffer too?

I just picked up a used one for my buddy the other day and it had a Black-dot shaft.I expected the worst when hitting with it but got the opposite. As far as hit wise and low deflection,it had less deflection than a tiger shaft for sure but more than a Predator.More along the lines of a OB classic.

I have seen seconds for sale on ebay for a long time. A friend of mine bought a second for 100.00 and I can't find anything wrong with it. He saved about 600.00 and got a nice cue. If a person wants a great hitting cue cheap, he can buy one of these and get a shaft made for it.

Just as an aside, many, many years ago, I purchased a DH3 from Meucci. Mike Sigel hounded several of us from his home pool room to support Meucci as he was sponsored by Bob. One of the shafts was beautifully clear straight grained Maple. Showed it to Mike. He mentioned how awesome the shaft hit. As good as the shafts Meucci sends him. Had to speak with Meucci about something and mentioned to Bob's daughter about the shaft. She immediately retorted "Mike should not be complaining about the quality of the shafts we send him". Sorry, but that comment to me shows how little Meucci cared about their product. Couldn't even compliment them. Not often that happens now!

I got a Power Piston 1 several years ago for $180.
It had a bent pin but didn't affect roll at all.
I imagine that it may have been a non marked second considering the person that was selling it. When I mentioned the bent pin to the seller, she sent me back $20 so all was good. At the time, the PP 1 was still fairly pricey but the price had dropped from the original retail asking price. 19 oz on the button and you'd never know you were holding that much in your hand. Very well balanced to my liking.

It plays great and one of the cues that I would never sell.

I'm a fan of Meucci but I don't believe any manufacturer should sell seconds.

Even if the only flaw is completely cosmetic? I'd have no problem with playing a cue with unsmooth inlays and think it's better for a manufacturer to not trash the wood and materials, or try to just put them on the shelves as their "quality" work and instead sell them as seconds. Now if the defect makes it play crappy, that definitely shouldn't make it to the public.
