Mike Cochran's Last Cues

I don't want this to get lost in the flotsam of the forum. Hopefully, this thread will tell the whole story.

Dean C (deanoc on AZB) has shown a level of generosity that staggers me. He made sure that three cues Mike was working on at his untimely passing are completed AND will live as testaments to Mike AND will benefit Mike's family.

This is the thread for the first of Mike's cues finished by Dennis Searing.

IMHO Dennis nailed a great tribute to Mike. It was Mike's work, layered with Dennis' touch. The owner has to know what a special cue he has.

The other two cues are being finished by Ron Haley and Laurie Franklin (South West Cues) and what a trio they will be.

Dean, you have major karma points banked. Tap, tap, sir.

I am really heartened by the pool community lately and it is inspiring.

the ron haley is sold as is the searing,Connie has recieved the money

The hoppe style,cochran ,scruggs is being finished by the FIRST LADY of pool cues,long known as at least one of the best cue makers in the world.Laurie Franklin of South west cues

This cue is available for purchase,it will be one of a kind,a true piece of history,one of the last in Tim's shop that Mike made and is to be finished by Laurie,ivory joint and South West pin

the money goes to Connie,it will not be overpriced and could easily be a big big winner for the lucky buyer

call dean,get a great description,send the money to Connie and wait patiently for Laurie to send you the cue with a nice letter that will guarantee you to have something no one else will ever have

also JB cases has made 3 cases 1 for each of the lucky buyers to be included with your unique cue

John and Laurie have donated all of their contribution to this project in order to help Mike's widow and son,if you are a collector please feel good about this project,the cues are fairly priced and it is to be expected that you will make a profit when you decide to sell if you ever do

Beautiful looking cue Glen! the ivory and mother of pearl look natural together. The butt is awesome, such detailed craftsmanship, feels good, a great Tribute....

More Karma for Dean for creating this project to honor Mike Cochran and help his family after their great loss.
I will be getting the Haley tribute to Mike cue. Maybe we can see all three cues together in a photograph. Billiardly yours AZ'ers,

I have spoken with Dennis regarding this cue and when he let me know the photos were on AZ I had to look today. This cue is beautiful and Mike would be as impressed as I am. I am more impressed and grateful for all the support that my family and I have received from everyone. I can't begin to tell you how skeptical I was when Dean first approached me regarding these cues because I'm very protective of Mike's memory and what he worked so very hard for. I didn't want anything to take away from that.

Dennis - the inscription and the beauty of the cue made me cry. I remembered how excited Mike would get when he made a cue that he felt was exceptional and I hope you are feeling the same way right now because you deserve it. Mike would put his heart and soul in a cue and I can tell you did the same as well.

Dennis and Dean - thank you for all that you have done. I hope I get the opportunity to look at the Ron Haley cue as well as well as the one Laurie Franklin is working on. You are all exceptional people and I welcome the opportunity to speak with each of you. ......Connie Cochran

Dean deserves major Karma for all of the time on this project. But I would just like to add that Dean has been doing Karma-like work of a generous nature for decades, mostly wanting no one to know.

A true class act, make no mistake. And a real Texan!
