We need to give him a nickname. In one of the magazines last year the called him Mike "The Grinder" Davis - but he doesn't like it, and it didn't stick very well. A few people mentioned it when he was at the tournament table, and we all drew a blank.
Let's here some suggestions. He's 6' 5". He's quiet and polite (most of the time). He's great at jump shots. JAM - you may be better at this since you've seen his style of playing more often then most. I'm always tucked away in a corner and don't have the opportunity to watch.
Y'all are creative - let's hear it.![]()

I'll use it at the next tournament - to see if it catches on!
Rackin_Zack said:Isn't Mike Davis the one who moves his entire arm while stroking? Not what I would call a "traditionally" smooth strokeHow's about Mike "Right Angle" Davis since his stroke arm always stays pretty close to 90 degrees and he pivots on the shoulder instead of the elbow?!
Rickw said:I think you're right RZ. BD did an article on him and they talked about his stroke and how it enabled him to get a lot of action because when players saw him stroke, they didn't think he'd have a chance against them. I guess this worked to his favor. I saw him live in Sacramento and his fulcrum is his shoulder not his elbow. Very different!
