Mike Dechaine 32 MPH break

He was down at the US Open 10 doing the same... CB flying around while a 100 or so people walked by. I was surprised the booth continuously allowed him to smash them with a 100 or so walking by. The CB was going about 10' in the air..

I have hit 33.5 mph and kept the cue ball on the table. At the US Ten ball we were all at the mezz booth having a competition. I would never do something like that with a pro tournament going on right beside me.
In the video the cue ball was pretty lite weight.

I can tell you, I have been on the receiving end of his break in tournament play and all I can say is that I was definitely keeping the chair warm.

Koop - Prince of Stool :D

It was at the mezz booth, and I was surprised they allowed it. The table was facing people, looking in other booths, walking down the aisle It was dangerous. You did hit them hard though.

What kind of burns would that leave on the cloth?

Are you talking about the cloth on the table that Mike D. is breaking the balls fast and hard on, or do you mean the stool that Koop is sitting on?:grin-square::wink::D

ETA: [Sorry, Koop, I couldn't resist. I'm still chuckling at "Prince of Stool."]

Wow, after reading this I'm even more bummed that I'm not gonna get to see Mike when he comes "up here" next month with the Joss tour... darnit!

Another time, I guess.

LOL...I am a mean seat warmer :D

Someone always misses the point..."A good break takes accuracy not speed". Sometimes, the point is just to see how much CB speed you can develop. Accuracy be damned. It's fun...it's trivial...it's done in practice.

For example, a race car driver once said if you don't crash every once in a while, you're not going fast enough. Since he crashes on occasion (CB off the table), does he suck or not understand that he could go slower & NOT crash? No, he's a douche for doing 200+mph into turn 1!

Another example, ever watch a Top Fueler go down track? They go anything but straight. Does the driver not know that he could drive a perfectly straight line if only he would drive a little slower? No, he's a douche for doing 300mph in 4 seconds! What an a-hole.

Another example, ever watch a pitcher throw a fastball? They miss the strioke zone every once in a while. Does the pitcher not know that he could throw a perfectly good strike if only he would throw a little slower? No, he's a douche for throwing that ball at 95mph! Kick him off the mound.

ANYWAY, awesome break Mike!

Mike Dechaine, is fast becoming one of the most gifted players in the pool world today. His break is amazing and once the balls are scattered, few people today pocket them any better. He makes the difficult, look easy.

Someone named "BilliardInstruction" left a comment on the link answering your question in a round-about way. He said:

"When tip hits the cue ball at only 20 mph it will generate 482 degrees F of heat between the ball and the cloth. Imagine the temp at 32 mph...?"

On a side note, it takes a hell of a hit to get the head ball to pop off the table like Mike did.

Great points, but I'm still going to bring my catcher's mitt if I go to watch one of Mike's matches.:grin::grin:
