I could have added this new info to a recent already-existing thread created by JoeyA on our forum, but since AzBilliards Discussion Forum posts are cached on Google, I am creating a brand-new thread about this topic, so that it will contribute to keeping this out in the public's eye.

Here's a November 10, 2011, newspaper article entitled "Search for murder suspect's identity leads to Ridgeland bar." It was written on the 2-year anniversary of Mike Surber's murder.

Police said a few days later, when Cooper arrived at Shucker's, he was with a female companion. According to America's Most Wanted's website, he talked to a female employee about visiting his studio. A manager reportedly called police after Cooper walked out on a $100 bar tab.

A woman identifying herself as a manager at Shucker's said Thursday she was unaware of the investigation or that Cooper was last seen there. She said she probably wouldn't recognize the man from a picture because of the amount of traffic the restaurant has.

Ridgeland police were unavailable for comment.

"Unavailable for comment"? What?

Cooper also has been seen in Villa Rica, Ga., and police believe he may travel I-20 regularly.

Villa Rica, Georgia. Keep your eyes open for this creep.

Steve Surber said he hopes to find his brother's killer not just for closure, but also because of the danger the person could pose to others.

"If you look at how methodical this whole thing was, to me it was very cold-blooded and calculated and methodical," he said. "I don't think this is the first time he'd done this."

The family has offered a reward for any information leading to the capture of Surber's killer.

Flowers said anyone who may have information should call the Ocean Springs Police Department at (228) 875-2211, or a local law enforcement agency.

seems unbelievable

Seems unbelievable that this guy can just roam around with no problem. My partner and I had a tractor-trailer rig stolen from Baton Rouge LA though and in the next six months the thief drove it to California twice, New York, all over the country crossing dozens of entry points and scales. He finally tore up the transmission and we recovered the truck in Daytona Beach Florida after he abandoned it. An annoyed girlfriend he wasn't paying child support to ratted him out when he came back to Baton Rouge. Hopefully something similar will happen to this lowlife.

Flowers said after his department last week helped apprehend a Raleigh, N.C., fugitive who'd been living in a home just outside Ocean Springs, Raleigh officials offered their facial recognition software to help try to find out Cooper's true identity.

I hope this facial recognition works. It just says it was offered. I hope the OCPD takes full advantage of that offer.

This is great news. I'm not sure what this facial recognition software is or how effective it is. Apparently, it works.............

Eezbank, not many people know how hard you have worked to identify this villain, but let me just say that those of us who know, appreciate your efforts.

Sincerely,

Thanks Joey. I really appreciate that.

While I was looking at mugshots I made these pictures. It's possible this guy cut off all of his hair. My skills are lacking on Adobe but these images gave me a better idea of what this guy would look like bald or with very short hair.

I think it depends on a few things

Joey,

I'm not real up on the facial recognition software but I think it depends on a lot of things including angle the pictures being compared are shot from. Of course as was recently demonstrated with some images of a young lady's face, different mm lenses can vastly change the facial shape and the distance from the subject substantially changes the size of the nose and ears for example.

Those are some of the limitations although a form of facial and skull shape recognition predates finger printing. The good news is that facial recognition software can often narrow the field of suspects down to dozens instead of thousands if images of the bad guy are on file, quite a help. Seems this man isn't really leaving his home area or is returning pretty often. Likely he will get caught eventually, convicted is another issue but hopefully one step at a time will get the job done.

It seems the guy is really desperate. Those type usually don't have people they can really depend on so it should be easy to find him. Also he looks like a very big sturdy looking guy....not like your average joe.

I think everyone in the pool community should put Surber's site and video on their networking pages like myspace and facebook. He would have to chance.

Must be talking about this guy. Hard to tell if it's the guy who killed Mike Surber but I guess it could be.

I have one thing to say, and it's three letters: DNA.

Eventually, this creep will turn up and be forced to give up his DNA.

I have a feeling, though I don't know for sure, that this man must have left his DNA somewhere in Ocean Springs, MS.

Wow its been over 2 years, this is amazing, they have these pictures, for all this time and they still cant connect the dots, for murder the worst crime that can be committed, this just dont seem rite,i hope some big wheel isnt protecting this murderer, something just isnt right!

Its really sad state the justice system. and even if they catch him, not guaranteed he gets convicted or even serve what he should. If a person kills another innocent, it should be life. I do hope justice is served here

It's 2012 and we have to keep shining whatever light we can until this murder gets solved.

Everyone please remain vigilant so Mike Surber, his family, and friends get the justice they deserve.

Does anyone have news of any progress bring made on this case?

Best,
brian kc

Mike used to come to Derby I never knew him but watched him play a few times at the Executive West. He was a nice guy and loved pool. I hope someone who knows something about this will come forward.
