Ming Ng just won the women's open tournament at Valley Forge. That's two in a row for her against big fields. She won the National Amateur two weeks ago. There were 180 players in this one. It paid $1,800 for first. If she can win three is a row that would really be something, since her next event is the WPBT in San Diego.

Just wanted to let you AZ'ers know how she's doing.

What was the entry...180 players and only 1800 for first seems kind of low?

WTG Ming. I think on the first match back on the WPBA Tour you should say, "I'M BACK", just before you start the cue on the first break. Good Luck Ming. Johnnyt
 
I had the pleasure to meet Ng Ming on saturday.
She was such a nice person to talk to and gave me quite a bit of her time.
It was neat to hear that she won.

What National Amateur is that. I thought the National Amateur was a few months back and all you got was a plack...?

She won the tourney in Seattle a few weeks back. I had to leave right when the semis started :mad: only got to see her take a few shots.. So wouldnt it already be 3..

Im taking Jasmin in San Diego, Oh wait, thats right... :rolleyes:
 
Yes, I saw some of the final this afternoon and she seemed to be playing solid pool. Congratulations, Ming.
 
Isn't she a pro? I know she fell in the rankings but she was a ranked pro a few years ago. It's like if say Danny Harriman's game fell a bit would they start allowing him to play in amateur events?

I'm talking about the event in Seattle. It's billed as the Women's Amateur Nationals. All the regional tour champions play in it.

As far as Jamin goes, I won't comment other than to say, she might be the best thing to hit women's pool since Allison showed up. In an era of many great women players, I think Jasmin is the best. Everything being equal, she just has more game.

Ming has played in only one WPBT tourney in the last five years. Not nearly enough to be classified as any kind of pro. She basically didn't play pool for three years until her shoulder surgery nearly two years ago. Her highest ranking was 16th about eight years ago. The WPBT used to have ten or more events every year back then. For whatever reason it is a dying tour. I think they have five events scheduled so far this year.

I sooo agree with you Jay. Jasmin has "the whole package". I really like that they are taking it a bit slow with her (suspension not included) instead of pouncing out and doing everything - everywhere... she is maturing more and more and is in the company of such great players at all times. She is a student and will continue to learn....During the IPT I had several opportunities to watch her and what goes on around her and I can tell ya.... she is devoted and has the desire. That, coupled with all of her talent is going to get her a long ways!

Congrats to Ming also! Great finish in both events. She's a fighter with a lot of heart - and isn't shy on talent either! Great Job!
