Missing cues at Derby Found !!

Oh, are you saying he intended on driving the cues 1000 miles to FLA and then trying to find the owner and incurring expenses to ship them to said owner? Why not do the right thing and take them inside?

It's possible that he decided he would send them to the owner and felt that taking them inside would be an unnecessary risk.

Why do you think, if his intent was to keep them, that he changed his mind?

We need an explanation directly from the hopster, because at this point we don't know what he was thinking.
If anyone knows old Hoppy see if he will come on and give us the full story

This guy could have opened the cue case, saw the business cards and thought "I'll take this and contact the guy when I get home." Whereas, if you hand them off to someone at the hotel you never really know who you are handing them off to. Guy inside could say, "yeah, we'll take care of it" and then you see them on eBay two weeks later.

His actions have already told us what he was thinking, which was doing the right thing.

Gary, I'm glad you are getting your cues back. I would have done the same thing as Hopster did. That way, I ensure the rightful owner gets his stuff back. I will be putting my info and business card in my case when I get home today. Good Karma all around!

Christian guilt or possible fear of being caught because Gary didn't lay down and take it. He made it well known and then news of a video surfaced showing someone picking the case off the ground and sticking it in his car.

Why do you think, if his intent was to keep them, that he changed his mind?

Well maybe you can sign a cue ball for him as a reward.

(Ill take a signed one too) ;)

Possibly, but I would have taken them inside and found Greg Sullivan or one of his hire ups. I wouldn't have handed them to some unknown pool scuffler....

Nothing like a happy ending, congrats to you and kudos to him. Alls well that ends well.

I remember when I was able to get inside people's heads and know what they were thinking and what their intentions were.

Those were the days . . .

LOL! Great talent to have!

Congrats to the OP for getting his cues back! I wanna see pics!!!! :)

hahaha Very funny man.

I've stated my opinion. I'm a gut feel kind of person and I'm right many more times than wrong. I don't know for sure what happened. That's why we have these discussions and that's why we have a forum.

If it were you I'd bet everything you would not have placed the cues in your car and drove off. If you state the opposite you are just being hard headed. You would have taken the cues inside and found someone in authority like Mr. Sullivan because you are an honest and concerned person. No way you would have taken the cues home.

I left my 3x7 Instroke in the Elevator last year while playing in Reno.
The Cues inside were valued right at $10k.
As I was exiting the front door with my baggage, a guy runs up to
me and says: "Did you forget this" ? After catching my breath, I shot
him a $50 bill. He didn't want it but I insisted.
There are Good People out there and I was very lucky to find one.

Great news Gary!

Now you're set for Shooters-Olathe which starts on Feb 19, $5000 added. And with your comfortable cue in hand..........

See you there.
