That's brilliant.
The hair, the smile marks, the angle of the heads! The chalk stai... Ok, maybe not that one;-)

There is no Santa Claus

One of the things I have always enjoyed my entire life of frequenting pool rooms, which is a pretty damn long time, is the fact that I very rarely ever encountered any animosity between anyone, be it their race, creed, color, nationality, or religion, and in some instances, class, though affluent patrons were always quite popular, especially with the action players. :D

I cannot understand, for the life of me, why anyone would take offense to Santa Claus. He is one of MANY representations of the Christmas spirit. The representation of Santa Claus -- to MOST people, no matter what race, creed, color, nationality, or religion -- is merry, jolly, and happy.

Is it being insensitive to say the words "Merry Christmas," as one example, on this pool-related forum? I think not. If I was Muslim, I would think the words were an expression of good wishes. It is sad to think that on this forum which represents cultures from around the world, united together by their passion for pool, that words of merriment and mentions of Santa cause rage.

I am beginning to think that folks above the Mason-Dixon line are just different from the folks below the Mason-Dixon line. I have lived through the Vietnam War, the Martin Luther King riots of '68 in Washington, D.C., and have seen a whole lot of hatred in my life. I never felt it in the pool room, ever. Somehow the diversity of folk from all walks of life made pool interesting to me. Young or old, fat or thin, tall or short, it makes no difference if you desire to become proficient at pool.

Seasons Greetings, my fellow AzB-ers, and may the New Year bring you peace of mind, good health, and much happiness.

We (north and south) probably are different from one another in some respects, but isn't that what makes the world go round? :)
I understand why Jude took offense even to the Santa Claus thing. I think his leaving the forum was an over-reaction, but hey it's his life. If he was not enjoying participating in this forum, he should by all means leave, as you did not long ago. You needed a "sabbatical", maybe he does too and will be back. If he took such offense that he won't be back, I'm sure his life will continue quite nicely without AZB and AZB will continue quite nicely without his participation.
... and the beat goes on.

Opinion

The Souquet look-alike should have been kept to themselves, and if I was Jennifer Barretta, I would be highly insulted to be compared to a no talent superficial media flake as Fabio,IMHO.

All humor is NOT funny, as you have seen by replies.

I agree with what you said but I look at slightly different. To me it appears that Fabio, being such a fem, is being compared to Jennifer who is by no means masculine. lol

You won't get an argument out of me. When I-95 crosses the Mason-Dixon line, the toll booths are ever so present when traveling north. I got my laptop computer stolen out of my hotel room when I was in visiting up North. Everything is more expensive up North.

I'm with you. I enjoy holiday meals. This year we are having prime rib.

Doesn't offend me one iota. I think it is ridiculous that the mere mention of Santa Claus is offensive to some, even though there is no Santa Claus.

No Santa Claus? How do the cookies and milk always get eaten every year at my house?

Offensive

This thread has been judged "very offensive" by Mel Gibson. He tells me he won't be posting here any more.

Bullshit. Jennifer knows she is one of the hottest females on the planet, and that practically any man would give anything to sleep with her. Do you really think she gives a crap if someone makes a joke about her looks? She friggin posed in a bikini in magazines, she is obviously very confident about her looks.

This melodramatic crap is so stupid.

jam, it's hard to say if santa does not really exist for as most of us know, believing can make it so. although this much i do know for sure there was a saint nicolaus and he was credited to filling at least one stocking by the fireplace with gold. i posted this link in non-pool and nobody seemed to care but i still think it is interesting.

Realistically, I don't think it was the comment or Santa at all, but the intent of the comment, which was a dig.

Is Santa Christian?

Anyone who travels knows that Christmas is celebrated all over the world. It's become a secular holiday. Having just returned from China, where there are few Christians (it's mostly Buddhist and Taoist) Christmas is widely celebrated. Trees, decorations, Santa, the whole bit.

Christians celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ, but Christmas is a cultural phenomenon and is by far the most widely celebrated holiday in the world.

Let's not forget, the religion many of us practice, Jews, Christians, and Islam all originated from the same events. Whether you call it Arbrahamism or Judeo-Christian beliefs, it was at one time the same religion.

Leaving religion out of it, Jews are an ethnic group. They have been discriminated against and maybe they're sensitive about it. Maybe it's time for all of us to consider that and recognize that it's time to stop. That's not much to ask, is it?

Oh yeah Chris? I think you're discriminatory against object balls. Everytime I play you, you keep pounding them into the middle of the pocket. It's about time you stop doing that crap! (at least against me) :D

You all need to get with the program. The only time it is acceptable to compare someone to a Nazi is when that "someone" is a Republican. All other Nazi comparisons are unacceptable. That is all...

^a tongue in cheek comment, describing a double-standard in today's climate. I am a Republican.

Thank you for sharing the link. Great read. I also love your Christmas avatar! :)

Many folks have fond memories during the holiday season, with family get-togethers, good food and cheer, and, after all, 'tis the season to be jolly, isn't it? :p

Check out this 3-minute slide show by renown photographer, Danny Goldfield from -- [I hasten to say it after my previous posts :o ] -- up North, New York City, the Big Apple, Yankee Country.

Goldfield's goal is to photograph one child from every country in the world that lives in New York City. Look into the eyes of these children. The holiday season, whether it is Christmas, Kwanzaa, or Hannukah, is a very special time of year. How refreshing it is to see the innocence of a child who has not yet acquired any prejudice, anger, and hatred: http://www.nychildren.org/

My friends and I are one of the most non-PC groups of people you'll ever find. Just a few examples:

We'll tell Carla (who is Mexican), 'I'm sweating like a Mexican writing a cheque' when it's hot.

All the girls (including their kids) make dog-cuisine references to my entire family. Same with our driving ability (or lack thereof).

I ask people, "If I spin around, do you think I'll become disORIENTed?"

I tell my friend, Ellen (who is Jewish), that she's going to hell for making baby Jesus cry.

I make black, white, Asian, Hispanic, blonde, brunette, secular, and dead baby jokes. I've also dated black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Jewish, Catholic, Buddhist, male, female, and am prolife and not prejudiced one bit. I figure, if we can't laugh at these stereotypes, they'll eat away at us.
