Mosconi Cup 2012 Day (4) Discussion

and it was Dechaine complaining about the rolls after the first day...wonder what he is going to say now...

oh well......come on Melling....you were on fire yesterday so let us see some of that magic again ;)

Shane was up 4-1 at the time and didn't exactly need a roll, but he played it in a way that gave it a chance to go, and it did.

Good kick by Brandon, not so good a roll.

I disagree. Make a guy kick two rails at a ball that's eight feet away and he'll have a hard time controlling the cue ball off the kick. Good safety by Melling that figured to get a good result.

Great match so far. Both players showing some serious form.

Now everyone can see the difference.. What rolls are? When you miss or kick and hook the other guy many times in one rack.

Jay calls Brandons side rail kick spin for shape a positional error...pfft Jay - BITE ME!!

What annoys me about Jay's commentary is the noticeable excitement in his voice when the U.S. makes a mistake or gets a bad roll.

Not looking good for Brandon, down 4-2 now.

Like when he was yelling "Watch out, there's a pocket there" when Brandon scratched.

Melling has had the most interesting creative shots so far this year. In creativity, he's the white Efren.

He played a carom from the 3 to the 7 which was near the hole... but he played to cut it thinly with heavy right spin, so the cue ball would carry around the rails and come around for shape on the 3 in the side. Beautiful.

Wow, and then he just kicked the 6 straight in the hole, kicking into a rail mere inches from the cue ball. Ugh.

And he kicks just as good

Holy Melling!!! WOW. What a time to come with a perfect kick. Lesson there? FREEZE the cue ball to the 8 and take away the kick. Brandon should have frozen the cue ball to the 8 IMO.
