Mosconi Cup 2021 Day 2 Updates

That referee is knowledgeable and I cannot believe that Filler did not pick up on that, its very easy to know its no rail judging by the speed of the cueball. Grady Mathews taught me this.

If cueball moves very quickly after contacting the one ball --- if you saw the shot on the 1-ball then it means it didn't contact a rail after hitting the one-ball. I'm impressed by the referee for spotting this very quickly or maybe he got a good eyes. For me I just know by looking at the behavior of the cueball.

Filler breaks and makes but has no shot on the 1, then bizarrely fails to hit a rail after successfully kicking at it. BIH to Tyler, who cleans up and leads 1-0.

Joshua leaves Tyler a very tough safe after an exchange of shots. Tyler misses and Filler gets BIH for the easy combo win. 1-1. JF breaks next.

Every match feels like such an uphill battle for USA. Even when they've gotten a large lead in recent years, it still feels like all they can do is simply sit tight until some favorable matchups come their way while Europe claws back into it.

It would be an absolutely shocking result and a huge concern for team Europe for Tyler to win this match. Regardless, he has made great strides in his game over the past couple years and he could very likely remain a regular Mosconi Cup team US participant for many years if he can continue this trending.

This is called "Stepping up to the plate," and some guys can do it and others can't. We'll find out what he and Chris are made of this week. As for me I always root for the underdog and there hasn't been many any bigger than Team USA and what they have been through just to get here. I want to see the Miracle of the Cloth! Can David fell Goliath?

It's been rough, but Styer, by the grace of god, converts a slopped 8 ball into a 2-1 lead.

Joshua breaks dry. Tyler rattles the 8 but leaves Filler safe. Joshua kicks at it and misses, then Tyler misses the 8 again but again leaves Filler no shot. FIller leaves him tough. Tyler flukes in the 8 after missing the corner, then makes the 9 for a 2-1 lead.

Tyler swung his cue in frustration and almost inadvertently hit Filler after the first miss. Warning for that.

I thought it was partially caused by Filler jumping up to the table right behind Tyler after the miss. Even if Tyler had just sort of gently put his cue behind him as he walked away, it could have come close to Filler. (And, I kinda wish it had jammed Filler right in the mouth.)

Speaking of Tyler, very disappointing sign of frustration and I’d be very surprised if he can regain his composure enough to win this match. I certainly hope I’m wrong!

i made a comparison in another thread to larry nevel. massive stroke and break. misses seemingly easy shots. to me tyler is a riddle

Tyler breaks but has no shot on the 2, so plays safe. Joshua flukes in the 2 with a jump shot but scratches. BIH to Tyler, who cleans up for 3-1.

After Filler's break, Tyler misses the tough 2-9 combo but got the 2-way safety. Filler fails on the re-safe but Tyler overruns the 6 and misses the thin cut. Joshua runs out to cut the lead to 3-2.

After Tyler's break and an exchange of safes and misses, Tyler gets the advantage and runs out to get on the hill.

This table is playing really tough. The slick cloth and small pockets are making these guys miss shots we see them make routinely.

And the purple 5 still sucks.
