MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Game 1 - Shaw v Woodward. Woodward scratches the lag and they re-lag! Wow. Then wins the re-lag. Crazy.

Woodward breaks dry, leaving an easy 1 but a tied-up 5.

Shaw drops the 1 and the 2, but is faced with a steep angle into the side on the 3. He shakes his head and takes an extension, then plays a crazy safe that almost looked like a carom attempt at the 9, and it works out for him. Good roll again.

Woodward, the lag-scratcher (still can't believe that), steps up on the long cut on the 3, and plays a nice safe, tying up the 3-8.

Shaw returns the favor and more with a lock-up safety.

Looks like it will require a masse-kick to escape, which Woodward pulls off to perfection, hooking Shaw.

Shaw jumps out of the safe and luckily gets safe again.

Woodward plays a 2-rail kick, but leaves an easy 3-9 hanger which Shaw drains.

Shaw leads 1-0.

Game 2

Shaw breaks, making the 1 in the side and the 7 in the bottom corner, and has an easy combo on the 2-4, which he makes but gets tough on the 2. He center-cuts the thin cut and gets perfect on the 3, should be out from here. Tough little shot on the 8, but he draws it straight back along the rail to stop perfect on the 9.

Shaw up 2-0.

Game 3

Woodward breaks and the 3 drops. Has a thin cut on the 1 which is makeable and should be leaveable on the 2. He undercuts it BADLY and leaves it easy.

Shaw is probably out from here, and he's shown no weaknesses today. He's out.

Shaw up 3-0.

My wife and I have watched every shot. Which is awesome and rare for her to have an interest in pool. She decorated our pool room in Red, White and Blue to help set the atmosphere. We are going to finish this thing to the end! We 100% support our American team but oh my it is painful to watch. Their results mirror mine in tournament play... That might be why she doesn't watch me play 🤔

Game 4

Shaw breaks and makes the 1, 2, and 7, but has only a safe look on the 3. He plays to the crowd and takes practice strokes behind his back on a safe. Crowd loves it. Plays a decent safe (not behind his back).

Woodward escapes, leaving a look but not a shot on the 3.

Shaw returns a safe but leaves a better safe look for Sky.

Woodward over-hits the safe, leaving Shaw a long 45 degree cut on the 3 with the CB on the rail.

Shaw takes an extension. He looks like he wants to take it on. Instead, he plays a cross-side bank on the 3 and rolls the CB into the 9, nearly making it as well. WOW! He has a long cut on the 4, if he makes it he should be out. He's having fun now. More fun, I should say. He's out, playing to the crowd between each shot.

Shaw up 4-0.

Shaw has also a new Cue?
No Peri on the shirt….
And he is shooting with a carbon shaft. He always shot with a wood shaft. Will filler shooting with a revo, this leaves Sky the only one shooting with a wood shaft.
