I think if they want to eliminate the soft break they should put a speed gun on the cue ball and make everyone hit a minimum speed. No one should be penalized for hitting the break hard making a ball and being straight in on the next object ball just because the balls collided and two did not pass the head string, regardless of who they represent.

But for other big tournaments like the world championships I think it is a good rule.
Earlier today Mark Gray broke too soft, and only 1 ball passed the center of the table.
When Niels broke some of the balls hit eachother, stopping them for passing the headline. Not far, but in the end the luck evens out...

However, it's the same for all so I guess it's just a factor the players could "miss-use" to get them where they want.

I thought Mika showed a good and humble side of him self today and I'm not sure how this ties up with the "discussions" about his "prima-donna" nicks but for me he showed character. The same did JJ which of course was let down by loosing on a fluke on the last 9.
Anyway, exciting day, looking forward for the last day.

I agree and I have always thought Mika handles hisself with class same with Ralf and for that matter everyone on the European team except for Tony Drago who is a little too cocky for my taste when things are rolling good for him. I think the US is fine except for the obvious classless antics of Earl, which I guess are just part of the show, not a part I am proud of, being an american. Hopefully the US can win the first few matches tomorrow to make it a more exciting event to watch. Congrats to the Euros on a very nice day.

I'm not blaming any one on the team, but when team members are not showing up to watch a friend defending their "crown", well then I think there must be something wrong.... (Last years event).
Earl could play some cranking pool and beat any one, but when his mind is going in the wrong direction it's not fun to watch. It put's some "action" and new flavors to the broad cast - but for sure not makes a big addition to the team spirit.
