Mosconi Cup - 2nd session Saturday - singles

I think if they want to eliminate the soft break they should put a speed gun on the cue ball and make everyone hit a minimum speed. No one should be penalized for hitting the break hard making a ball and being straight in on the next object ball just because the balls collided and two did not pass the head string, regardless of who they represent.

JJ using the cushions to get the position and ball down. Hmmm
3-3.

Roy - you are the mean machine on side bets :) Do you look at anything without making bets ? :D

K

I once did, but only because I had a bet that I would not bet on that match :D

I think you are just mad because you are losing our bet ;)

If Mika wins, the score will be 9-5. Do you want to bet double or nothing tomorrow? First team to win 2 games?

If JJ wins, we are tied for today, and tomorrow's bet is first team to win 3 games?

Yea, I am mad because I might lose 25.00, I am mad because I think this event is a joke and it pisses me off to watch people, Jeremy included on the six ball drive a ball one and a half diamonds up the rail and still make the shot. I am good with your options for tomorrows action:smile:

I agree on the speedgun, especially for an event like this with only one table. Would add some extra excitement for non-pool players too.

But for other big tournaments like the world championships I think it is a good rule.

Earlier today Mark Gray broke too soft, and only 1 ball passed the center of the table.

When Niels broke some of the balls hit eachother, stopping them for passing the headline. Not far, but in the end the luck evens out...

Agree, JJ did hit the cushion miles away from the pocket to make a good set up for the next... It's almost like playing on the kids club when I was 14 years old :D

However, it's the same for all so I guess it's just a factor the players could "miss-use" to get them where they want.

Ice man 4 - 3 :)

Roy; you must have a dull day when there is nothing on he he.

Go go Europe

I am not mad, just dissapointed in the promoters of this event, I am glad they do not trick up the rules and play on a 6000 yard municipal golf course for the Ryder cup.

That is fitting for Mika to Sh*t the 9 in the side for the win, nice playing Mika, congratulations.

Good day for us in Europe, hope fully it would continue:)

I thought Mika showed a good and humble side of him self today and I'm not sure how this ties up with the "discussions" about his "prima-donna" nicks but for me he showed character. The same did JJ which of course was let down by loosing on a fluke on the last 9.

Anyway, exciting day, looking forward for the last day.

I agree and I have always thought Mika handles hisself with class same with Ralf and for that matter everyone on the European team except for Tony Drago who is a little too cocky for my taste when things are rolling good for him. I think the US is fine except for the obvious classless antics of Earl, which I guess are just part of the show, not a part I am proud of, being an american. Hopefully the US can win the first few matches tomorrow to make it a more exciting event to watch. Congrats to the Euros on a very nice day.

It's looking bad for the home side. Oh well, there's always next year. :sorry:
I was hoping JJ could beat Mika so it would be 8-6 and still within reach, now it seems near impossible but USA all the way anyway.

Don, you hit the nail. US has a fabulous team - but it's only problem is that it some times don't work as a team.... I'm not blaming any one on the team, but when team members are not showing up to watch a friend defending their "crown", well then I think there must be something wrong.... (Last years event).

Earl could play some cranking pool and beat any one, but when his mind is going in the wrong direction it's not fun to watch. It put's some "action" and new flavors to the broad cast - but for sure not makes a big addition to the team spirit.

Anyway, good luck to both teams for the next day and may the best win :D

Immonen would still have run that rack out, even without the early 9.

Playing like a machine at the moment.

I agree, but they are still way too big for an important international competition. This event is a joke ,,, short shot clock.

In the snooker Premier League the shot clock is 25 seconds, so Mosconi Cup rules allow for a nap and a shot:grin:

Last year the European team had extensive training together for a week or so before the tournament.

Did they do the same thing this year?

What did the American team do in preparation?

Inquiring minds want to know.
