Mosconi Cup Confusing??

They have 8 selected players as of right now. So are there gonna be 3 cuts made prior to the cup?? Just very odd to have 8 guys together promoting yet only 5 available spots. Oh and btw I love all the haters on all of these guys. No matter whom is picked overall you really got to bash them down dont ya?? God I love this board and its support and passion :rolleyes:
 
I believe only 5 guys get to play but I heard that they were going have them all travel to the Mosconi Cup together as a team.
 
I personally think it's a great idea to have more selected and then narrow down through the year. If someone proves to not fit the team model and spirit Mr. Wilson is looking for, then he has three others to choose from that have been apart of the structuring process the entire year.

The interview with Mr. Wilson posted in another thread was excellent and very insightful.

Of course, you are correct, but the Mosconi Cup is a very long competition that heavily favors the stronger squad. It's a race to 11 match wins, where a match win requires winning a race to six.

Sounds about right, RunoutJJ.

You're right. No matter which players are chosen to be on the team there will be some haters on here.
I like the concept though of taking ALL the players to the MC.

Although only 5 will actually play that in no way takes away the idea of "teammate" out of the other three players.

Think of it like a basketball team: everyone goes on the trip to the game, but not everyone will necessarily get into the game.
There will be those who simply sit on the bench, but do understand, those on the bench
—who have practiced with the others and have built a solid rapport—
are important components for those who will be "on the court playing."

In other words, those three that don't play in the MC are going to be instrumental in rooting on their fellow pool players!

Wouldn't the other 3 function as alternates or substitutes?
I was thinking if one of the first line 5 players got sick or something, but
I'm wondering if they could all be participants by moving one in and another out as the match progresses.......

Anyway, do all 8 players get paid the same?

Mark the coach will cut it down to five prior to the event.

I think they're trying to be able to take the other three
with them to the event, so they can at least be a part of
it that way.

I think mark has got a winning formula for this year's team. I hope they crush Europe and prove a load of people wrong. Like minded people and team players are the only ones that can win an event like this. I feel with this squad they can achieve a strong team spirit! !
