Mosconi Cup Coverage and Discussion Dec 10-13.

Gotcha, Joey, five hours difference for EST and six for CST.

Really looking forward to this Mosconi Cup.

My contacts say LiveStreaming for the U.S. will happen. Details to follow. Stay tuned everyone.

Hope against hope.....

I read the following on Matchroom Sports:

"Due to live television broadcast, the stream will be blocked in the following territories; Great Britain and Ireland and the United States."

Does this mean that we here in the U.S. will finally be able to watch this event LIVE?

My guess is that we'll see a chopped up broadcast in 6 months so we are screwed again. I hope I'm wrong. Please allow me to purchase this stream.

I've watched the mosconi cup live for the past 3-4 years. It's really very simple. All you have to do, as some posters have already mentioned , is find a skysports feed. It is live and free.

I am confused.
Why would the US be blocked???
I can understand GB and Ireland - it is a made for TV event.
But the US ? Our team is playing - remember!!??

That posted you quoted was from Mosconi Cup FB page. This is what I posted in that thread.

Why not stream it for all of us US guys?? I think its plain silly that we can't cheer our boys on LIVE!! Make the stream happen so we can promote our beloved game. Thanks....

When you click on the Livestream link you get the following:

Due to territory licensing restrictions, POOL is unable to broadcast these events in your territory. Please check back later as restrictions vary for different events.

So I am guessing that Matchroom made an agreement with the US TV network that will be showing the Mosconi Cup (at some point) that they would not allow the event to be live streamed in the USA prior to it being broadcast on TV in the USA. Presumably they think that if people in the USA can watch it on a live stream then they will be less likely to watch it when it is shown months later after the results are already known and they believe that offering the stream would therefore hurt US TV ratings.

Again, all you need to do is find a skysports feed on the internet on Monday and you can watch it live. I'm sure someone will post a link. I'll post one if nobody else does. It's not rocket science folks.

It may cost like $9.95 or something but that's basically free.

I hope someone poststhe link. I will if I find it. I get off night shift Monday so should be able to watch it.

"pool fans around the world will be able to follow every ball of every rack via the internet."

but then at the bottom it says

"Due to live television broadcast, the stream will be blocked in the following territories; Great Britain and Ireland and the United States."

 Why would they post this story on AZBilliards? AZB is in the USA. The first time I read it I thought they were going to stream in the US.

I can't believe the USA cannot watch this live. So now we have to resort to watching some illegal feed that may or may not be up and running or watch it 6 months from now on FSN.

that is referring to the "stream" which is different than the live tv broadcast.

There is nothing illegal about getting the skysports feed. You can subscribe to skysports anywhere in the world via the internet. It may cost a little something to get the mosconi cup but there may be a few places that have the feed for free. The only problem with those is you may have bandwidth issues and slow streams, etc....so I always just pay the small price and get a good feed.

Again, it will be really easy to watch the Mosconi cup live at 2 PM eastern on Monday. I've done it for the past several years with absolutely no issue.

Hmmm...

Everything I have seen always said ......."Sky Sports is NOT available in the U.S. via Satellite, or Internet."

If you come across a link, please post it.

thanks

the point is that it is not available to the us even though the us team is playing. of course there are places that will have it but to have the company promoting it denying their access to it is dumb.

The reason being it hurts the sale of the programming to U.S. networks. (so they think anyway) It's like a movie...who wants to go see it for a 2nd time? If you already know what happens ....

Pretty sure it's FOX sports that purchases it, and broadcasts it at a later date.

Most likely FOX has a written clause in the contract forbidding broadcasting of the event. It's not Matchroom's fault, nor Sky Sports. It's the Americans that's trying to stop us from viewing it live. :(
