I wish our European brethren is a safe journey home. They must remember that coming in second place is the next best thing to winning.

The Mosconi Cup will be proudly celebrated by Team USA for their almighty win this year in Vegas, of course!

All together now:

USA, ALL THE WAY.
USA, ALL THE WAY.

USA, ALL THE WAY!

There is no way Peach is going to be on the team. Souquet, Appleton and Melling are a lock. Then it's Hohmann, Feijen or Van Den Berg. Maybe also
Mika if he has a strong showing at the US Open. I have no idea how you could possibly consider Peach. But yeah, Europe is probably going to take
the Cup.

Doug, normally you know what you are talking about, but no way there will be 3 guys from UK in the Euro team. The team from Europe is:

Souquet
Appleton
Van den Berg
Melling
Immonen

Team USA:

Doesnt matter :D

I will take some bets on Europe..

I Will Be There......

Regardless of who will be playing, I will be there routing on Team USA. My tickets have been purchased. Cant Wait!!!!!

Anybody can predict the obvious, my friend.

But a good performance from Daryl in the US Open could clinch him a Mosconi spot on merit. Let us see what happens and I will have bragging rights if he does get there.

Of course the Mika/US Open combination usually pulls the Iceman through

It is a misnomer to call it ' Mosconi ' cup. It should be called ' Family Feud ', because the Americans are long lost cousins of Europeans. LOL

I would like the USA to win but the Mosconi Cup competition always produces some great nail-biting, edge of your seat, pool playing moments. I'll enjoy watching some masters playing impeccable pool. Good luck to both teams and may the best team win.

Mika and Hohmann both HAVE to be on the team. The best team Europe can field is

Mika
Hohmann
Souquet
Appleton
Melling

I don't really care who the USA picks at that point, they are an underdog.

The best the USA can muster?

SVB (#1 obviously gonna be there)
Archer (a lock)
Morris (a lock)

and... 2 of these 4

Dechaine (maybe, hot and cold as yet unproven player with champ speed)

Deuel (every time he breaks in the Mosconi Cup he gives up control of the table, a HUGE negative, he DID get second in the US-Open last year, he SHOULD be there, but FFS Corey break the bloody balls. One big negative for him, has he played ANY pool this year??? He has zero, 0, a big goose egg for 2011 earnings... right after 2nd in the US-Open???)

Hatch (after a great first year he had a pretty brutal second year)

Strickland (certainly one of the USA's top 5 still, but if his head goes south...)

Pure talentwise for me if the USA wants a chance to beat that team Europe above they NEED

SVB
Archer
Morris
Strickland
Deuel

Those ARE the top 5 players in the USA with the experience and speed to go with team Europe. Anyone else from the USA has to play over their heads to beat the European players.

Doug...According to the US Open list, Van Den Berg will be likely playing for the USA! LOL :D

190 Nick Van Den Berg USA

One thing though, other then SVB and to a degree Archer the USA has few players anymore who actually compete on the global stage against the best in the world on anything close to a regular basis. Team Europe has mostly guys who actually go to the events in Asia, the big events in the USA, the major events in the Middle East, play the major events in Europe. You look at the players from the USA and they are playing in bloody regional tours with 1 or 2 other reasonably decent players. Playing in a Jacoby tournament while a player from Europe goes and plays in the China Open against the best players in the world leaves the USA at a serious disadvantage, the USA has very few actual proper professional players anymore, they are little more then hyped amatures playing in tournaments with amature players that pay nowhere close to enough to live on.

When you look at what Souquet, Hohmann, Mika and Appleton do each year, the events they play in and the competition they go up against. Other then SVB and to a degree Archer, noone else in the USA comes close to actually playing at that level of competition throughout the year.

The USA will lose this more times then not simply because the players don't put themselves out there like the Europeans do. People will say "yeah but it is expensive to fly to Asia for an event and blah blah blah..." but it is also expensive for the Europeans to do all that traveling to Asia and the USA as well, but they do, you have to in order to truly play proper professional pool in todays world.

I agree. Strickland belongs there over Hatch and most of the others on the list. This is the type of tournament where Earl really shines! I haven't looked over the stats but I'd think he probably has the best record of anyone at the Mosconi cup! And any players who do not want to be on a team with Earl don't belong there anyway! JMHO

I will be going to my first ever Mosconi cup this year, though I've been religiously following it on TV for the past 3 years (which is all the time I've played pool). I have never been so unsure about anything in life as I am about whether or not I want Earl playing this year. How can you have a true team event with someone like Earl on the team and at the same time, how can you give up your best intimidation factor against the Europeans? I mean, those guys have no respect for the likes of Morris or Hatchman or even Duel for that matter. We need someone who can rattle their bones and that's Earl.

Now if we can get him to be nice to our own team... :)

Go USA!!!

Let's hope so Corey, they thrive on it. Watch Melling go through the field at The US Open.
