Calling Jay Helfert! I wonder who has made the most money during their career in tournament play. I would think Earl (although he only got 250,000ish for his Million Dollar Run) or Efren. Maybe Sigel or Archer?

Guesses???

It would be tough to say because of the IPT. Just like Earl only got $250k of the million he was owed there were a lot of ppl in IPT that won and didn't have cash in hand.

Very true. Just wondering who is our career money leader

Im thinking Efrens 500k would have to put him in the lead. Especially is you convert it to Phillipine pesos........ ;)

Going by Mike's list, it is Efren by a long shot. That's pretty much what I would have guessed. Two interesting points:

1. I would have thought Thorsten would have been higher since he won one of the big IPT's

2. I can't believe SVB is 15th. That I triple strong considering this list is since 2000 and he didn't come on the scene until 2007. He has 4 1/2 years while everyone else on the list has 11 1/2. That's a monsterous head start.

What I find interesting is if you take the IPT out and divide by the amount of years they played the yearly sum is pitiful for the top player in any sport. These are the best in the world. Johnnyt

For sure. It is what it is, and then there's the expenses, savers, taxes, and the chop-chop with the stakehorse/backers which, in some cases, cuts the figure in half.

However, these are thoroughbred pool players, and what they may be lacking in some area, they just might be fulfilled in others, such as being happy, doing what they love to do best. It is a trade-off. I don't know a whole lot of successful married men with families who are pool professionals. The lifestyle doesn't afford one to be home very much if you're going to be a pro, especially with more and more tournaments being held overseas.

Those who can hack it, God bless 'em. I still say, Mama, don't let you babies grow up to be pool players, unless they live in the Philippines! :D

Let's not forget that $150,000 of Mike Sigel's money was from beating LJJ in a single match. He wouldn't be on the list if it wasn't for the IPT.

Efren won one of the IPT's also I'm pretty sure.

Even if you look at Reyes over 10 years $700,000 of his total $1,700,000 for 10 years came from the IPT. That's 40% of his 10 year earnings. Johnnyt

In snooker Stephen Hendry has made 9,000,000 pounds! which translates to about $14,500,000! And that's just tournaments, he's made a ton of money on endorsments.

Hendry has played in the World Championship 27 years in a row and made 123 centuries there. He has won it 7 times, more than any other player. There have been 77 147s made in ranking tournaments. Hendry has made 10 of those. He is the oldest player to have made a 147, one at age 40, one at age 42 this year.
