most underated pool players

Maybe not underrated by people who have watched him play, but definitely unknown to many is the red rifle Jamie Ferral from New Orleans. He is a great 9 ball and bank pool player.

Bob Hanover.
Did you mean Bob Vanover? If so, he was not under rated when he was younger and is well know around TX. The TX open championship trophy was named after him for his many victories. From what I hear, he is in his 70's and still plays pretty sporty.

Underrated players

I believe Ignacio Chavez is underrated. He has played many players most of whom you see in all of the magazines and tv and won yet is seldom mentioned. He is the Rodney Dangerfield(can't get no respect) of pool.

Bob's brother Tom wasn't a tournament player but was one of the best money players in Maryland for many years. About 4 years ago we played some races to 9 even and I came out a couple of sets ahead but I didn't win every set and he was in his early 60's then if I'm not mistaken. A few years earlier he gave a pretty good player the 7 ball playing 5 ahead for 1000 and ran the set out.

i will play himat dcc in jan he beats me he gets respect.

most underrated 14.1

DICK LANE he may have run more hundreds than anyone. He used to play
a pretty good player (could run 30-45 balls) 150 to 150 no count and win.
I remember when he would practice 12, 15 hours a day EVERY day. If his
arm would not have shook so bad there is no telling how good he would
have played. He came in 2nd to Jennings in the U.S. open. (It was the one
that was watered down some.)

Yea Dick missed and then stayed in the bathroom for hours talking to himself. Mosconi himself said that Dick probably had more 100 ball runs than he did...which is pretty dam amazing IMO.

At the regional level, Manny Chau seems to be pretty underrated. Looking at his finishes in regional events, he seems to perform better (or at least more consistently) than some players who are known across the country (McCreesh, Clatterbuck, Shuff), and yet I never see him mentioned on here.

Jack Cooney made a hustling career out of being unknown and under-rated. The were countless times when he won all the money in some joint and afterward, there would be plenty of onlookers that were convinced he didn't play very good. Jack had to like that!!! This was a comman theme with him - didn't play well but somehow got all the money.

I know ole Chris don't want to admit it but my sources say he can play that 1 hole pretty good when he has to..

He did play good 1p when he was young, like 18-21, but he has hardly played the game since. He has come out of 1p retirement twice to play top players getting pretty good weight but that's about it. If your source comes with some weight we might just be able to bring him out of retirement again.....

peteypooldude,

You've got to be kidding, right? I realize and respect that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but, you might want to take a look at Allen Hopkins accomplishments -- Two Time US Open 9-Ball Champion -- Two Time World 9-Ball Champion -- World Open 14.1 Champion -- Legends of One Pocket Champion, just to name a few. If that's not cause to be considered amongst a list of the greatest players I don't know what would be, Earl included!

Dont know what u mean bout Earl ,i was referring to hall of fame nod ,Earl has earned his spot.thought it was ridiculous eva made it ahead of Earl but thats another thread
