My Butt needs a Shaft

I have a Joss sneaky butt with no shaft.

I'm not big on the laminated shafts and like solid maple so I have found several options.

Cheap Route: Get a 20-30 dollars second 5/16 x 14 piloted shaft off fleabay.

Next Option: Get a Joss shaft off the A-Z dealers for around 60-80

Original Option: Pick up a custom makers shaft off A-Z secondary market or from a builder. A chance to try a poor man's version of an expensive custom. Might cost 75-250 depending on builder.

What would you go for?

I always prefer to get them directly from other players. You might be surprised at the amount of people in larger pool rooms who have extra shafts. And everybody knows that pool players go broke, lol. I actually (this is for real, btw) found a Joss shaft in one of my cases once. Turns out, someone apparently put their shaft in my case by accident. I asked around, and even posted a flyer, but nobody claimed it. I ended up selling it for 30 or 40 bucks, since it didn't fit any cues I had at the time.

A custom cue makers shaft will cost you around 150 so what kind of hit would you like will determine which maker to go with.

Zed from Pulp Fiction could probably help you out. He's got a sweet chopper too.

Giggity OH!

I'd definitely go with one of the last two options. My friend has a Joss sneaky with a Joss shaft that has a black joint collar (the butt does not). I can't tell that anything looks out of place. So that opens up a lot of options for you, me thinks.

As much as I like custom stuff, given your situation, I would get the standard Joss shaft as it wil be the best buy, and they play great, IMO.

KOINKID is a good person from which to buy.

I have one of the old Joss cues. The stock shaft is the nutz. Dannny Janes stock stuff plays fantastic.

My 2 cents.

Best Wishes!

I see these ads on craigslist a lot :D yes, who doesn't browse the personals??? :embarrassed2:

If you do get a custom cue builder to make a shaft for your cue I would send him the butt to make sure the shaft fits perfect.

You will be with out your cue for a bit but I would do it that way no doubt. But as others said the stock Joss is an excellent way to go.

I have an extra shaft which fits my Schon I'll sell you for $60 shipped. It looks close to 13mm and has a layered tip. I bought it as an extra shaft but don't use it. I don't think it is a Schon because the pilot is different than my Schon shafts but it fits the cue. 5/16/14.

Holy shi#. I thought I'd clicked on some Greek porno site. I had to look at the header again.
