Beginner, we are still learning. When I stop playing and stop playing I hope they are putting dirt on my face.

My advice on cues is not how many but try to upgrade a little each time. It is realitively easy as you trade and add cash. If you get one that you want to hold on to put it away and then start the process again.

Good luck to my friend in pool.

Thanks for the advised Ken...that was i did to my Falcon cue i trade in and add cash for my Predator 3k7....its better w/ my falcon when i tried to used for the first time..but ever since i always wanted a Schon cues and the Ltd 1033 got to my attention so i bought and it really feels good to my hand too...the only think im concerned if i buy a new custom cues such us southwest or murrell...especially there's nothing here in toronto, canada...i wanna feel the cues first and try to shoot it how good it feel on my hand...alot of people always use the phrase 'FIT LIKE A GLOVE'..i wanna feel that way too...but thanks for the adviced and tips i really appreciate it...

Ken's advice is very sound.....try to follow it.

You have a really good start, at any rate. A high end Predator and a nice Schon. Both cues play very well IMO. A Southwest is quite an investment, but they are as good as cash. Might be hard for you to get one without investing a couple thousand or so. An order to Laurie at SW will take 8 years to fill, but you don't have to pay until delivered, and you get to buy at today's prices. If you are fairly young, get with her and place an order and wait....it will be worth a lot more when you finally get it.

As for Kenny Murrell and Mike Webb...both very nice cues....not a SW, but very nice. Not the long wait either.

Order the SW and then find what you want for the next 8 years.........

Thanks Bamacues for the info too...8 yrs??? that long? wow...i never thought that long to get a SW cue...that might be a very good cue to have...your right its a good investment too...but i just want to have for myself to keep in a long run...im good in handling cue i always take care of my cues....how about Murrell and Webb cues how long do you think it will take to order?..as you can see on my 2 cues they are long quiet fancy as design goes...but since i've been looking for this custom cues that posted here...i kinda like the four long point w/ clean butt sleeve and w/ rings on it with leather wrap....very clean look....do you anybody that sell SW cues not a fancy look as long its clean and w/ orginal point look w/ rings and leather on it...i would like to make a deal w/ it...as long in a good range...thanks alot too for your tips bamacues...and i can see that you have a lots of cues w/ you there...is it possible that you can send me those pictures of your cues if you don't mind....

I can warmly recommend Tim Scruggs cues if you like solid-hitting cues. I'm shooting with one since March and I still haven't tried a better-hitting cue. I have already got 3 offers from 3 different people to buy it... at almost any price. :p

... and no, I'm not selling mine. ;)

EDIT: I think Schon is still the best hitting production cue, I've tried. They really do hit great despite being a little bit pricey for a production cue.

MJANTTI also offers very solid advice. Scruggs is a wonderful cue...generally traditional 4 point style, etc. Also, I agree that Schon is probably the best hitting "production" cue, but Evan Clark is very particular, and Schon is really only a 2 man shop. Predator is the other one that I like, so you are in good shape.

Cue makers I would recommend for "affordable" entry level 4 point traditional cues (other than the ones you mentioned) are Russ Espiritu, Andy Gilbert, Phillippi, Bob Frey (worked with Scruggs for MANY years and is still right down the street...Tim refers all Sneaky Pete requests to Bob)....those are only a few. Blud makes a great hitting cue, reasonably priced.

Higher end 4 point cuemakers, Scruggs, Mottey, Lambros, Richard Black, and many others. All depends on what you want and how much you have to spend.

I will update my web site (www.bamacues.com) later this week when the DSL is fixed and you will be able to see some of my current cues.

The "standard" Southwest cue is a 6 point all wood cue, no inlays. Right now you can find some on the market that run in the $1700-2500 range, depending on condition and ringwork.

Ya know you can get a "SW Style" 6 point Coker for like $600 - $700 right now... he is kinda out of fashion for some reason... I know a couple people that own cokers and really like the way they hit... You could get a nice one custom made for you for around $1,000 easily too I think...

James White works with Paul Mottey and you can build a 4 point cue starting at like $1,600... you can get quite a lot done for $2,000... My first custom from the ground up will be a James White...

If you don't want to wait Erik Lee sells new customs form a lot of great makers at a reasonable price... Stand up guy!!!

You can get a very nice 4 pointer with veneers and ivory inlays with some nice ringwork from a lot of people if your budget is $1500-2000. I am certain Andy Gilbert would make you a VERY nice cue crafted just to your specs for that price range. It would probably take him 4-6 months, depending on his work load. You can send an e-mail to jeff@gilbertcues.com and see what Andy has or will make, or you can contact Andy directly....Jeff is easier to make contact with.

Ok. Is it just me or does ANYONE else read shades of BILLY JAY TROTTER in these posts???? C'mon, guys. Next, hel'll be asking about Cuetech cues . . . .

I play with a kenny murrell cue in my opinion they hit awsome as good if not better than any thing out there. If your a big fan of leather wraps try out a kenny murrell cue there super nice cues points and awsome leather wraps but most of all they play awsome. He also does some of the most awsome rings and joint protecter I have ever seen.

If you want a cue close to SW hit, I'd recommend Blue Grass.
Almost the same compound taper on their butts and stiff shaft.
Coker cannot come close to SW hit. They're just too thin at the joint, forearm and handle.
My 2 cents.

I'm in the process of working something out with Jensen now.
Do yourself a favor and get out now! This custom cue thing is contagious. :D

I think addictive is a much better descriptor than contagious! I know I'm about to start counseling to try to curb my cue buying appetite.
