My Match with Dennis.

This was a very nice post. I can understand how hard it is to control temper sometimes. But its even harder to see and admit when you're wrong. Mike is a hot head and has some growing up to do, I'm glad he realizes it and is working towards it.

On another note, I wish he would have apologized for his hair cut because it was way worse than his attitude.

Hey Guys, first of all I would like to apologize to everyone as well as every sponsor and of course Justin and Mark. Wow, this match was doomed from the beginning. I really did not put any thought into this match before it happened and didn’t think of what could have all went down, but of course, the worse did happen. Throughout the years, Dennis and I have had many battles. Of course this is the one that meant the most because everything was on the line.

There are 5 things I regret this weekend, here they are:

1. I swore way too much. I guess in the heat of the battle I didn’t realize that I did this. My temperament ran extremely high and I uttered words that I wish I could take back. Although most were under my breath, they were still unacceptable.

2. Smashing my Cues. This has been something I have been doing for a little bit now. I have calmed down a lot but still do it when the heat is on. I only do this after I missed MY shot and I really wish I didn't. Under pressure, it's hard to control myself. I don’t know why that would offend any player especially when A LOT of top players do this.

3. Comment about alcohol. Dennis was really upset about this and he should be. First, nothing would have ever come out of my mouth if I weren’t goaded into the conversation. I am sorry, but I am going to stick up for myself and of course the worse thing happened, he wanted to fight. As far as the drug comment, I was insinuating how some type of controlling substance needed to be taken. I was comparing the two. I personally am not a big fan of people coming to the table drunk or using alcohol to reach their peek and I thought it should have been in the rules. To be honest, I didn’t even know Dennis drank!!! I believe this was the second time in my life I saw him do it.

4. Arguing at all. We went back and forth and really, for no reason. I came to play pool and that's all I should have done. I regret the childish behavior and it's something I've been working on.

5. THE WORST! SAYING I WANTED TO QUIT. This I am so sorry for. I had no right to say this. After the argument between Hatch and I, I felt a little intimidated. I wasn’t going to risk myself being hurt and put in a bad spot over 3k. It’s just not worth it to me. So I am sorry for saying that Justin.

Again, Big thanks to Justin and Mark and every sponsor. I hope to get the chance to come back one day.

this is justin hall from the sunny streets of tampa, florida using one of my friends screen names.. i dont get on here much but after just watching a little bit of the match and reading this apology from dechaine. i just wanted to say... what a bunch of crock..........

i mean first things first.. mike.. you must not have much luck in the women department because if you have ever had a serious girlfriend or a wife then you would know that you cant F up and then apologize and at the same time your apologizing, you are backing up your actions..... for example.. your sorry you swore too much... you uttered some words even though they were under your breath.. .. thats called backin it up.. its either your sorry or your not.. no explaination..

smashing your cues............... youve been doin it for a little bit now and you only do it when you miss a shot and really wish you didnt..lol.. thats backing up your actions once again... didnt the same thing happen a couple yrs ago at the open with your predator.. and i know predator didnt like seeing that too much... so say sorry all you want.. its not like your going to do anything to change it... that was two or three yrs ago...
Comments about drugs or alcohol to hatch.......once again you apologize but then say if you wouldnt have been "goaded" into the convo than it wouldnt of happened... again.. backiing it up... and by the way... thats the thing you should be apologizing for the most because your being disrespectfull to the guy and trying to put him down by saying those things in front of hundreds or thousands of fans of his........

i mean we all knew you werent going to quit. just like we all knew he wasnt going to do nothing to you... and you want to act like you were scared and not worth it to you.. watch basketball or football and guys get under the heat and get in each others face but they dont do nothing because their professionals.. that doesnt mean the pros dont have emotions........... so if you cant take the heat then stay the hell out the kitchen. i guess the whole reason i posted all this is because i just cant stand watching or listening to someone who is fake and acts fake to people all the time... and then comes on here and gives an apology that he probably didnt even write completely himself just because he felt like it was the right thing to do.. not because he was really sorry........ and then i gotta sit here and read 30 posts saying.. alright, woo hoo, good for you mike...OMG. give me a break and realize what your looking at... Dont be "bowlers" your whole lives... lol.. inside joke thats my lesson of the day for youngbuck dechaine........... it felt good to vent......haha

p.s... good win by the way... but ill still play you a louisville all around dead even.. bet what you want... not saying, just saying...

Mike neither you nor Hatch have anything to apologize for. This is getting ridiculous and out of hand. People got 3 full days of awesome pool and still find some way to ***** and be a victim of something. THANK YOU AND HATCH FOR 3 DAYS OF GREAT POOL.

We both acted horribly. I rarely drink... And I DIDN'T get drunk. And you couldn't have been that scared of me cuz you were texting me asking me out for drinks when we got done! No one even knew I was drinking until you walked over and looked in my cup. and you said it after I shot the carom because you were pissed I didn't call it but I called the ref over to watch the hit so you were NOT defending yourself when you said it we were arguing about me not calling the 4 when you made the drinking comment. And you were pushing my buttons all day the minute you walked in the arena you started talking crap to me telling me you heard my bark was worse than my bite. Then was asking me about deflection where I aim. Even Justin asked you if you were trying to shark me or get in my head before we started on day 3. Nothing was really on the line at all! No money got put up from either side and we both got paid to be there. But nice post. Glad you apologized. I called Justin and apologized personally to him I didn't write a post. Mike I would love to play you again for money or a challenge match again but with stricter rules for both of us.
And again nice post. None of us are angels we all have flaws. I won't be replying to anyone's comments. This is about me and Mike.

That's a nice wrap-up to this right there. If Dennis and Mike don't have a beef about it, that's that.

Good playing, guys. It gave people something to talk about and maybe another something to look forward to.

I would love to see a 10k per man match come outta this!!

At this point, both players are 1-1 in TAR matches. While I like this new format and admit this is the best way to get players in the arena, the old school TAR format rocked the Casbah!!

Last time I check Mike has been dating darling women player Brittany Bryant for quite so time now. Pretty sweet, not to mention beautiful, young lady with some class

Mike I understand where you are coming from here. Me and this guy Nester use to match up a lot and he would always ask me for weight. I would reluctantly give it to him and win some and lose some. The whole time he would be shark me on certain shots but I never said anything knowing it was he that was the weak one and I had em. Well that was the Idea but it didnt always go that way MOST of the time. Looking back on it now Im pretty ashamed at the way I acted over how I was told or taught how to act. At the time I was around your age (22-24) so yes you are still a young man amd have some major chutzpah going on. So I can see why you got so upset. You are almost like Vincent in TCOM... Big balls and little brain... More of one than the other

You're right emotions can get the best of you in a heated situation but you have to bite it!!! Swallow that pride crap!! You have sponsors that you are suppose to represent. I have two sponsor and all they give me s ia little bit and don't pay for anything I do pool related. If either of them caught wind of this type of behavior the would drop me in a hot second!!! You do liek sponsorship dont you??? I know I do!!!

You have to be more professional in your decorum and watch what you say. I really want to believe everything you said in the podcast but after this tripe Ive taking a couple steps back. I think many of people did aswell. You're gonna have to prove yourself more than ever to get people back into your corner and give you support. I wish you the best and Ill still buy you a beer and talk about any ideas that come to mind.

Take care and good luck,

Jesse J

Well done, Mike.

Personal responsibility/accountability run short in this world and you just proved that it still exists.

I think both players were being whiny and cry babies, you do not see Shane and Darren among others doing that, they are the definition of professionals. Not saying neither has slammed there cue or anything but its a rare. Insulting the other player and talking about his mild drinking and saying he is on drugs or whatever was way out of line, he was just talking about you slamming your cue down and you took it somewhere else. What did his drinking or supposed drug use have to do with you slamming your cue down and how was it affecting you? When your slamming your cue down when the other guy is at the table its wrong and also does not help you get any cue sponsors IMO. I am sure a good cue maker is going to give his cue to someone who is going to smash the hell out of it.

BS...Banging cues is a childish act. It's not the cue's fault...it's the fault of the player. If you're mad, take the cue in both hands, near the joint, and swing it hard into your head. That might actually teach you something.

I'm glad Mike came on and apologized, but that doesn't excuse childish behavior...and the comment about "everybody does it" doesn't hold water either. Top professional players have no business acting anything other than professional. I know we see bad behavior in all kinds of sports, but it still doesn't make it right.

Thanks for coming on here Mike. That shows adult behavior. Best wishes in Vegas and your other upcoming events. You might consider counseling to learn how to get a handle on your temper.

That and hitting the cue on something, it's one of those reactions that's almost automatic.

Nice Lenny,

I could not agree more. All I hear from pro's around the country is we need sponsors. Mike showed why sponsors are dropping like fly's. Mike is on a well organized stream (I paid for it, thanks Justin) with lots of potential sponsors and what does he do ACT'S A FOOL. It is hard enough to come up with the funding to do TAR, and Pro Tournaments. Dennis has some of the blame here too, but to be honest he is a road player. Not that that is an excuse for bad behavior, but Mike is a upcoming pro player with all the right words but not the right actions.

More BS...Any time you piss off the promoter and sponsor(s) you have plenty to apologize for...especially since changes will be made to ensure it doesn't happen again. nuff said.

Mike,

This was a class move all the way. While I agree with what you say, it takes a lot of heart (and nuts!) to come on here in public and say it. I think it goes a LONG way. Well done sir!

One thing your not thinking about, promoters and sponsors have nothing without pool players. Castrating and berating them for being upset when they miss a ball or banging around their own equipment is uncalled for. The promoters and sponsors made money off these guys and we got entertained. They dont owe you too much more.

dorabelle...I'd say, with Justin's comments (not to mention him taking both players out of the stream and reprimanding them) pointedly makes the opposite from your standpoint. How do YOU know they made money? You have no idea what it costs to put on a TAR event. The players put up nothing, and behaved like children on a worldwide stream. When you put up prize money, and stream an event between two pros, you can allow any behavior you wish. Until then...well, you know what your mama taught ya.
