My Prediction

I think KT will disappear off into the sunset, never to be seen by the pool/billiard world again. He had no major ties to the industry before, and his reputation will be no worse than when he started.

KT will tell the players that Stanley Ho owes them their money (I'm not convinced Ho has ever heard of the IPT, and he may not even think the whole thing even warrants a response.)

Any income from qualifiers, ticket sales, video sales, T.V. rights, etc. will end up in an offshore account. Then the IPT will dissolve.

The players who spent time & money to participate in this venture will likely have little or no recourse. They will just have to settle for the money they got for earlier IPT events.

The real victim here will be Deno. He is a young guy with long ties to the pool/billiards industry. I know Deno, and I believe him to be a stand-up individual. I believe he fell for the KT/Jedi mind trick, and repeated the lies from KT believing them to be true. Unfortunately, it looks like he will be left holding the bag.

I wish Deno the best, and hope he can recover from his guilt by association. I believe he really intended to elevate the sport to a new level, and good things may spring from what has started. He has a long life ahead, and I hope he can return to the industry.

JMHO, and for the sake of pool, I hope I'm wrong.

You're probably right but i hope you're wrong.

As for Deno, he could be completley in the dark, or not.

Deno is no innocent bystander. He is complicit in this whole thing.

I believe Deno is having the best intention with his work, and I think that the communication I am having with him is great.

In fact, that goes for all of the staff of the IPT!

If the worst thing should happen here, there is only one person to blame, and I honestly doubt that the poolworld will blame Deno.

Deno has built the best thing ever happened to the poolworld, and he has done an almost perfect job! I am so impressed by the whole IPT (except the check issue), and if it fails it is NOT Deno's fault, but Kevin Trudeau.

Kevin has probably told Deno that he wants the best of the best, and that he shouldn't worry about the costs!

Why blame Deno then?

He's lied too, repeatedly.

I hope you are wrong

Jay,
I respect your opinion. I know you have more experience with the KT/Deno/IPT relationship than I do.

KT is a very charismatic guy, and Deno seems to be a believer. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Whoever is right or wrong, can we agree that Deno will be the hardest hit in the end?

Isn't that kind of like,"My health is great except for that cancer issue." ?

I believe that Rodney Morris and Efren Reyes will debate that point.

As will all the players who went out and put a down payment on a house or car.

Deno, the #2 man in the organization, doesn't know the financial status of the IPT? Give me a break.

Deno is probably more complicit in this whole thing than anyone suspects.

And KT will be landing his golden parachute on a beach somewhere.

Golden parachute? IPT ends now he's out millions, his biggest mistake ever in business, nothing is selling like he thought it would, he's lucky to pull a few grand from ticket sales, and the DVD's a $50 a pop are probably not even at break even after paying production cost, thats why you don't see any other videos from the KOTH or any other tournament, heck he probably didn't even recover stamping and packaging cost. Even if he did try to cover himself by saying it was just for fun, if the IPT ends today he goes down as the biggest financial loser of the IPT, and failed at his venture.

Most players are going to lose potential, they have not lost much investment and some made money, they also continue to play in the same old tournaments and doing about the same as they would have regardless of the IPT. Deno has jumped in head first and as far as I know doing nothing but IPT work and stands to be out of a job if the IPT stops now, hopefully he will be paid for his services, but we don't know.

The box may look ready, and nothing looks good, but I'm not nailing the coffin shut on the IPT like most people are. Still too early for this startup to say it's completely over, plus KT has had his back up to wall before and people said he was done.

No, really, such a thing is possible. When Sammy Jones was Treasurer of the PBTA under Don Mackey, he said in a magazine interview that he had no idea where the money was going. No, I'm not kidding. With sufficient motivation, I could look up the P&B article. As it turns out, everyone is still in the dark about where the money went, especially the $800,000 settlement from RJR/Nabisco. Some say Florida, other say the Bahamas.

And I actually believe Sammy.

Absolutely. He's either the number two man and culpable or he works in the kitchen. When he lies for the organization he in responsible. If you don't know then you refer to the individual who does or you simply say I don't know/no comment.

I keep seeing people (such as myself) stating how both Deno and KT have lied about the whole "the check is in the mail" thing, and noone ever responds. Why does noone ever respond to that point?

Tell me.. Why? Deno said checks are in the mail. Checks were not in the mail. Checks have NEVER been in the mail.

Hence, Deno is a liar, as Jay has said.

Do NOT defend Deno!

Bob,

I really respect what you've done for the game, and your knowledge, but this post suggests that you might be saying that Deno "might" be an innocent bystander.

For the reasons I just posted above, he is not an innocent bystander. His own lies that "the checks are in the mail, and should arrive by" blah blah blah incriminate him.

If you wish to retain the respect of the billiard community, please do not defend bad people.

The FACT that DA and KT have lied on numerous occasions has been proven and cannot be disputed.:(

The "golden parachute" was a figure of speech. I know it won't come from the IPT. But KT has enough money & lawyers to walk away from this.

Deno, on the other hand, does not.

And yes "the check's are in the mail" was something Deno should not have said, now that we know it was not true.

I really think Deno is in a state of denial. This is his job, his dream, and his life. Many people would still be holding on to hope if they were in his position.
