Need Prayers for Mike Webb

I had open heart surgery 9 weeks ago, to replace my aortic valve. I was only in the hospital 4 days total, which is typical (4-6 days is what the surgeon told me, and I know other people who had the same experience I had), and in another month or so, I will be pretty much fully recovered. It's a major deal for me, of course, but it's fairly routine for the surgeons. They do this type of heart surgery every day, and the procedure is well known. It's not without risk, however, and there is a very small chance that bad things can happen. Whatever the case, I'm sending best wishes Mike's way, and hoping for a speedy recovery.
I had open heart double bypass on March 10.
First night in ICU next six days in the cardiac rehabilitation clinic. Still feel very weak and winded. Hope you’re doing well. Can go to pm if you wish to discuss further. Don’t want to derail the thread!

This information is good to know and is uplifting.
I don't mean this to sound negative, but even though the actual valve replacement procedure is well known, I do want to emphasize that every situation is different, and we just need to wait and see what is happening with Mike. In my case, my primary care physician detected a heart murmur (which I had never had before) on a routine physical check-up. That took me to a cardiologist who determined that I had a stenosis, which was in the mild-moderate stage. We kept an eye on it for a few years, until it hit the severe level, and that is when replacement surgery became necessary. My symptoms were minimal. I had a known issue, and we fixed it before anything bad happened without warning. Routine physical check-ups are a good thing.

Had mine replaced in 2021 with a cow valve, so far so good. Mine was leaking
and after 4 years of getting worse surgery was called for. I retired 2 weeks prior to the surgery.
The choices are Mechanical valve, Pig Valve or Cow valve. Mechanical requires being on blood
thinner for life. Pig valve and Cow valve one my not have to be on blood thinners. That's why
I choose Cow valve, but ended up on blood thinner anyway.

Thank you Mike DeMarco for initiating the GoFundMe Campaign and our House Pro for approving this thread.

Like I earlier wrote, just the price of a piece of TAOM chalk. How many of use carry that in our cue cases? And how
many of us had to replace ours because it rolled away and was lost? Well, Mike isn’t lost nor going anywhere except
returning home real soon……we all pray…… and then I’ll start breaking his chops about trying to build me that KW
shaft that no one else seemingly can do. There’s a lot of road to still travel; get well soon Mike; you’re in our prayers.

So skip going that smash burger for lunch today and instead find a way to donate some coins for Mike’s recovery.

There but for the grace of God go I….all of us are mortal, life can be fragile and cruel but also kind, loving & charitable. .
Today, right now and for every new reader of this thread or a curious repeat visitor, join me….all of us…..please donate.

Thank you Jam for posting the link and to admins that allowed it to be posted. (I would have posted it though did not want thread for Mike deleted because did it)

As one comment said and I agree with, this should not be a site where it is a site for fundraisers etc.

Though we all need help in life and now Mike needs its and thankfully is getting it.

I respect everyone who has taken a minute out of their day to send Mike and his family positive thoughts and prayers.

The pool/billiard community make up a community that personally I am grateful for being a part of.

In the 22 years I've been a member on AzBilliards Discussion Forum, I have never, ever seen a negative remark about a GoFundMe account for a member of our pool community. I can remember donating to many a pool player in their time of need. I even donated to Wade Crane's family when he passed away suddenly in a car accident and they needed help for a burial. I donated to Jeanette Lee in her time of need when she found otu about her Stage 4 cancer. I donated to Mika Immonen when he first found out he had cancer. I donated to Melissa Little's GoFundMe recently when Mark Haddad was killed in a car accident. In some cases, I would not have known about the GoFundMe by pool people, if I had not read it here on AzBilliards Discussion Forum.

I see nothing at all wrong with helping a member of our pool community. After all, this is a pool forum, and in my opinion—just my opinion—we are all member of the pool community, and some of us do want to help others in our pool brethren in their time of need. :)

I don't either. Mike has earned every bit of goodwill that he is receiving.
🫶👍

So much hoping for the best for Mike🙏
Great craftsman & representative for all things pool, but more so… Always one of the most respectful, friendly, and helpful members of this AZ community that I’ve encountered in all my years here. Wish you better days soon!!!

I also would not have known about it without it being presented here.

Bravissimo……..when I started on Az many years ago, one of the first things I did was donate to AceDonkeyAce by buying stuff that I didn’t need and still have not used. I have a Schon satin jacket sitting in my closet because I was still playing with my custom Schon at that time. I still have never worn it and probably won’t but if it was a Bob Owen or Prewitt jacket, Jerry R. has since retired, the jacket would see a lot of use. My point is it is easier to donate and you feel better afterward. If you didn’t, then the odds are you never really wanted to help someone else. Thoughts and prayers are well intended but it’s become a terribly hackneyed expression of feelings because of mass shootings. This is a little more personal but for everyone that takes the time to offer their heartfelt condolences and wishes for Mike’s total recovery, thank you for caring. I do not know Mike but I hope to make his acquaintance some time while I’m still around and I hope he’ll get to write about me when I’m not. And to everyone that is able to donate…..even $5 bucks…Thanks for reading & caring enough to help.

My dad got one from a pig in 2023. Spent 2 days in the hospital total. He's still with me @ 83. Amazing some of the things that can be done today, not to mention the funnies we were able to make about his pig parts after it was a success!

Godspeed to Mr. Webb!

Please pay close attention to how you take your blood thinner. My mom passed away from taking too much. It thinned her blood so much she was bleeding internally through her stomach lining. We got her to the hospital but they told us she would not survive the surgery. I wish someone would have warned her the possible consequences of taking too much.

Glad everything went well for you. I have a leaky valve and a murmur. Doctors aren't concerned about it but I'd certainly feel more at ease if I didn't have em'.

I have a test machine at home and test every 2 weeks. The level must stay between 2.0 - 3.0. If the reading go's above or below itis adjusted with adding or removing 1/2 pill one time.

You must still be on Warfarin, that was what my numbers were too. Back in Oct I was switched to Eliquis, no more INR testing and no more hassle going off and back on Warfarin with every medical procedure and having to inject Lovenox into my stomach when on a Warfarin hold. Even had to go thru that crap for getting low back Epidurals. Also found out I have a murmur and a leaking Aortic valve, must be pretty common.

I am, being on medicare with the best supplement Eliquis cost me $550 out of pocket for a 90 day supply vs $10.00 for Warfrin. I also
had a leak in my Aortic valve and as it got worse it was time for valve replacement at 66yrs old. I am gonna be 70 in 1 1/2 weeks
and feel pretty good.
