NEW NATIONAL RATING SYTEM - SVB vs. You

10-ball, I'd like to think I could get 10 (maybe) and the same for 8-ball and 9-ball. One pocket, I'm pretty sure the percentages would be much lower for me... like maybe getting to 5 or 6. I've played people plenty of 10-ball, 9-ball and 8-ball where I am a huge favorite, but they will win games. I play the same people one pocket and they are lucky to win 1 out of 10. I figure it would be the same, me versus a top pro.

For the record, I've played a few pros short races (like race to 4 or 5) and have even won a few on an 8-foot table. On a 9-foot table, I've still gotten several games in a short race to 9.

I might get to 10 under that type of pressure.

You know its interesting. The first TAR Grudge Battle was a guy vs OMGWTF (a sharp tongued woman who plays below pro speed) with him backing up his claim that she could have the "7 for life". I think they ended up with 5K (maybe it was 10) in the middle with it streamed on TAR. The threads leading up to the battle were epic. Although OMGWTF had only some tourney experience, she had some which turned out to be a big factor. Her opponent had none, came out tight and quick stoking under the lights and she steam rolled his butt.

I call her opponent "a guy" because I forget who he was, he completely disappeared from AZ land after that loss.

That was EPIC!!!! CUBC vs OMGWTF and it was for 3k each. I will grant you that IF I played Shane under the lights I might not get to 15.

:-)

1. I don't have any backers.
2. I plan to be in Vegas for the BCA but something personal has come up that may nix that.
3. I highly doubt TAR wants me in particular on the stream nor any half-baked amateur getting slaughtered by Shane.
4. Why wouldn't Shane take the easy money of $1000 for playing a day or two of pool. Getting paid to practice with a little bit of a challenge isn't the worst thing in the world.
5. I don't have any backers. :-)

I'll back Shane:)

I'll back Shane:)

I think for what I want to bet Shane can back himself out of pocket change. However if you'd want to put up say 3:1 on the money being as how I am so overrating myself here - I'd be willing to bet another dime on myself. :-) Fantasy-talk you know as we all know that this is never going to happen.......but if it should and you agree to bet it then I will hold you to it as you should me as well.

Alright here's how we are looking so far (I put myself down for 25 games). If you said a number between say 10-20, I put you down for 20 because you are essentially saying you think you could possibly get 20. This is just for my own amusement. If you don't want your name on here just let me know and I'll remove it.

***Edit***

I moved the list to just the OP.

What might be interesting to see statistics on, is, how many games out of the 181 or so games they played, did Shane miss and leave an "easy" 3-4 ball out. That might be a good indication of what many of us could get to here.

In a race to 100; I'd like to think I could get to 20, but realistically I would probably make it to 9 or 10.

How many times does SVB miss the 10 and hang it? That's my number!

Edit-Not sure how this got me a 10 rating. I think my realistic number would be maybe 3 . Im not running more than 4 balls unless they are all hangers.

I'm not sure about race to 100, but I've gotten 15-3 playing 1p and broke even after two racks, then Shane quit me. Said something about needing to eat diner. I think he was scared...:cool::cool:

With the attraction of you, this match would be epic too. And that "under the lights" is what I'm talking about. TAR match. Race to 100. You and Shane even 10 ball. I say you don't make 30.

You know you are coming out tight. And you've seen Shane when he smells it. You can post me all the 2 packs and 3 packs (and I'm not laughing at the sklill that takes) you want in "some pool room" against "some guy". Vs Shane, in the Studio (like he plays all the time) 30 is not happening for you.

Shane is gonna run packs of 10 ball on your ass. Sit you down because you got tight and chumped a shot or played a weak safe and he will SIT YOUR ASS IN THE CHAIR. And when you get up, you will be locked dead behind a ball, kicking, you give Shane BIH you will be punished. Sit, watch him run a few racks, get up to locked up safety.

No 30 for you boy.

Trying to be honest yet optimistic... 7. Maybe as high as 10 if I'm allowed to shark and he isn't.

If I'm being honest with myself... I'd probably get 5 legit racks, plus 2-3 odd/lucky 10 ball combos.

I'd put myself at a solid 8. I'd be happy getting 10 or more and be dissapointed getting 5 or less.

Alright - let's hear it....on the TAR table, playing 10 Ball, how many racks would you win against Shane in a race to 100? This is assuming Shane would be interested the entire match.

I'm wondering if I could get to 30? Probably wouldn't bet on it. That's a pretty humbling thought.

***Update Alert***

I'm adding the list. If you don't want your name on here just let me know and I'll remove it.

70 realkingcobra

10 Money Box
10 Samiel
10 FordSVTCobra
10 Nostroke
10 CreeDo

Cleary didn't make the list because everybody already knows he's the favorite to get to 100.

What are the stats on how often he scratches on the breaks? Playing his breaks (as opposed to mine) with BIH, I could probably get out more than half the time; optimistically, call it 60%. Breaking, I might win 20%. Otherwise, 10%. This gives the following formula (it doesn't quite add up correctly, but is a rough approximation):

Let X = Shane's scratches on the break

Cory's wins = .6X + .2*(.6X) + .10*(100 - .6X - .12X) = 10 + .645X.

If Shane scratches on the break 10% of the time, then I get 16 games out of 100. Shane would be ahead 84-16 after 100 games. Extrapolating, I get a final score of 100-19.

If he scratches 20% of the time, then I'm in business and I only lose 100-30.

If he scratches more than about 60% of the time on his break, then I'm the statistical favorite! (Again, this assumes he's playing his full-on break, but scratching. I'm far from a favorite against the ghost with my break, for example.)
