I wonder what brand those tables are.
The interior design looks pretty nice based on the walls so it surprises me he's using those junky table lights and score beads too. I mean they work well just not pretty. Maybe he's wrapping them in something?

Coco, I hate to break this to you, but Mark.Griffin is 100 times the businessman you ever were!..I'm sure hes done his homework, and if he thinks it will fly, who are you to say it won't?..How much would you be willing to wager that you are wrong again? (as usual)

Dick you might be right about Mark being a bright businessman. But Sin City is suffering like the rest of the USA with the recession. Sure Las Vegas get a lot of Pool Player for their big BCA, APA Events, but this is not ever day of the week.
You only need look around Maricopa County AZ were you reside Dick and recall all the Pool Rooms & Pool Bars that close in the last 5 years like the Northen Lounge, Six Shooters Tempe, Clicks, The Ox, Alexander's, and the list goes on.
Go down to you local sucessful Pool business's aver the owner show you the real books, and you will see in it is running in the RED or BLACK, that is how business are judged P & L Statement.
Las Vegas is hurting and that is the truth. My Cousin is retired there, and he see the real Las Vegas daily not just the strip daily.
Dick you always want to bet, well I am not a gambler. But I will bet on a surge thing, that is my comfort level.
But I did express my opinion, and that is my right. The one thing I know about gamblers is their are loosers and liers. No body will all the time, and if they say they do they are full of S***!
I hope he changes his mind on that, but I can see the decision process. Vegas is still the "anything goes" life in the fast lane culture. I haven't been to Las Vegas in about 10 years, but the last time we went, the casino's were all smoking. I was formerly a heavy smoker but I won't sit there and endure that torture.

I think it's going to be a no smoking pool hall, unless they changed their minds.
I'm sure the pool room will do okay, it looks like it will be a nice place. If he's able to get a liquor license and gaming license, it's hard to fail.
As far as your statement though, he has thought many things would fly and didn't.
Cleary, Mark has always been a bit of a gambler, and as such you don't always win!..But from what I've seen, his business successes far outweigh his failures!..I believe he has already secured a liquor license..For those concerned with the smoking issue, that will not make a huge difference at all!
The latest national figures show, that only about 25% of us are still smokers ..But when you factor in 'pool playing drinkers and gamblers', it jumps to over 50%!..Just like the casinos in Vegas have done, I'm sure he will find a way to best accommodate both! :yeah:

Well only time will show if the Pool Room is boom, or bust. I have to laugh at all the TV Spots various Laughlin & Las Vegas Casino buy in Phoenix to lure Phoenicians to their casino.
The local Indian Tribes in the Phoenix Area the last year or so have either remodeled, or built anther 3-4 Casino's in Maricopa County AZ. That is hurting both Laughlin & Las Vegas.
Las Vegas still host a load of trade shows but many trade organizations are looking for friendlier NON UNION CONTROLLED VENUES. Reason the cost of doing a trade show in Las Vegas is enormous.
Trade organizations are looking into moving their events to place like Nashville, & other cities were UNIONS do not hold up exhibitor with ridiculous fee for setting up, and thanking down exhibits
I honestly have no been to Las Vegas or Laughlin in 8 years. I personally like many other people are boycotting states like Nevada that help elect OBAMA. I have drive through sNevada couple of time the last 8 years, and never even bought more than 5-7 buck in gas there.

Soon as I heard the word Smoking, that finished it for me. My Son & family, Myself, and all
of our friends / families are Non-smokers. He won't be seeing us ... Ever. What about Scott's new Room ?

I read Mark's explanation of the extensive work done to eliminate the smoke smell,
so we (as a family) will be down for Food, Fun, Pool, & Adult Beverages.

Sorry Str8, but your absence may not even be noticed!...
:wink:PS..All public places in Arizona, are now non-smoking..I believe even private membership clubs (Elks, Amer. Legion, etc., that used to be exempt) are now included..Almost all have separate outdoor areas for smokers, as I'm sure Scott will too!
