Notes from World 10 Ball

The world 10 ball in fla was the first major event that I have played in a couple of years. Although the payout for the event was a little on the meager side (as pool usually is), all in all it was a well run event and a good tournament. I had a couple of decent sets but made my usual early exit with a brilliant display of my ability to dog it under pressure.

I’m not much of a spectator but I hung around for couple of rounds and I have to point out a couple of players whom I was really impressed with. Stevie Moore for one. I’ve been to a few tournaments with Stevie and without a doubt he is a great player. But one thing that I have noticed about him is ability to stay focused, composed, and intense throughout the whole match. He definitely has one of the strongest minds in the game and I'm sure that he will go far. He made it to the final day, and considering the company, he had a great tournament.

The other player that I took notice of was Landon Shuffet. Now, I know he’s just a kid and has a lot of room for growth, but damn, that little guy has got game. I watched him run neck and neck with Warren Kiamco all the way to 7-7 before Warren took over. Very cool indeed. I’m sure we will see great things from this kid in the future.

As for me, I’ve lost my marbles and decided to play pro for awhile and see how it goes. It’s now time to get geared up for the world summit in Vegas. I’d say wish me luck but that’s for the gaming tables!

Louis, I watched you play some while you were there and I was impressed. I wish you the best with your career.

And you are right about Landon:)

Thanks for the report. Good luck in Vegas. Practice hard.

P.S. - I think I saw one of your matches at DCC a year or two ago. You were defeated by some guy named Efren something-or-other. He got very lucky on numerous occasions to win. That couldn't happen very often.

LOL. What can I say. Even a blind hog will find the slop once in awhile. ;)
 
Great trip report. It must have felt good to be "back in the saddle" again. Wishing you the very best at the World Summit. Hopefully, with this tournament under your belt, you will feel less pressure in Vegas. I think all players feel that tension, though. Some just seem to be able to block it out better. Heck, I feel the tension sitting on the sidelines, just watching! :D

Does anyone know what equipment Shane is using—cue, shaft, and tip?

I'm not sure who made it, but the points on his cue say "shane". It's pretty unique!

danny janes, of joss east fame! he made it for shane when shane was 10 years old! he might know how to spot talent! ya think! and shanes tips are
le pros! and the points do say shane on them! if anybody wants to know or ask shane any questions he told me to tell you to pm him at southdakotakid here on az!:D

I was able to watch one of your matches (with easy-e lol) and you played extremely well. Keep up the great shooting!

I was impressed with Landon Shuffet, he took Kiamco to the hill! But I was also impressed with the Japanese player Hanawa. Raj Hundal played his heart out in every match, so did Tony Crosby until he ran into Niels who was playing flawlessly.

It was a great tournament, too bad I had to leave early I would have really liked to have seen Shane win the final match.
 
Why in the world did the promoter(s) decided to move to a single elimination format at the final 16? It would have been much better for the fans and the players to remain at the double elimination format.

One just has to be impressed with Shane's Heart. He came back from the beating Dennis handed him the week prior and snapped it off.

This young man really impresses me more and more.

I believe Shane plays with a Dan Janes Joss that was built for him when he was about 10 years old. He has messed around with shafts bur I believe he currently is playing with the original Joss shaft and med Moori tips.
