Notice to Diamond of no longer delivering pool tables.

hmmmm....so I guess if you were expecting delivery of a shinny new Diamond pool table, and you got a phone call telling you your delivery date was going to be delayed because the delivery truck was broke down, you'd be fine with that? Or how about you get a phone call telling you your delivery date was delayed because the driver went on strike to get a new truck, I guess you'd be fine with that as well...because thats a sign of real class...right?;)

Glen

You guess wrong.

You also guess wrong if you think telling US you're not going to deliver Diamonds any more is a classy way to handle your issue with THEM.

Glen, you were extremely helpful when we talked. Its a real loss that you won't be delivering tables anymore. I wish you the best.

Of course Glen can do it in a more classy way like UAW and Teamster union members do.
Picket outside the workplaces. Then beat up the scabs. Wait, are there table mechanic scabs?
That's good one, got my morning laugh reading that:D

Dear Greg, Chad, and Mark.

I feel it's only fair that I regretfully inform all of you that as of June 1st or there abouts, once I have finished delivering the tables I am committed to deliver, I'll no longer be delivering anymore of Diamonds pool tables. Due to irreconcilable differences, being this Diamond truck I lease from Diamond to deliver these Diamond tables, and the requests for something newer to deliver your pool tables with for the last 6 months, I can no longer do my job efficiently and cost effective as a sub-contractor as the cost of operating this vehicle is just to outrageous.

Once I've completed the last of my deliveries, I'll drop your truck off at the Diamond factory, then purchase something used to tow my trailer and belongings back to Washington State, where I'll resume my profession as a Billiards technician once again.

I have no hard feelings toward Diamond, or their employees, I've had a long relationship with most of you, dating back to March of 2000. I just feel that at this time, this is the best thing for all of us.

I have tried on several occasions to speak with all three of you about this situation, but over the last 6 months, I feel my concerns for better, more reliable transportation have fallen on the unimportant list, as in not a priority at the moment. A lot of moments have passed in the last 6 months.

Rather than part on bad terms, I feel it's only fair to inform you this way, as then I know you'll hear me, and my message.

To anyone that was planning on having me deliver your pool tables in the near future, I'm sure Diamond will make arrangements to still make that happen, just not with me.

Sincerely, Glen...the Realkingcobra.

Do you work solely for Diamond? If not... this may be where they have issues with providing a new truck. They may not want to furnish a new truck to deliver Brunswick tables in.

Glen,

Are you the fellow who set up the Diamond tables at Cuephoria in River Grove, Illinois (Chicago area)?

If so, gotta say you've done really nice work there.

To be honest with you, I don't remember, I may have been the one, I've set up so many tables in so many places they start all running together after a while:D

I hope you get things worked out in your best interest Glen. I think you should do the delvs. you are scheduled to do and then take a brake from delvering and setting up the new Diamonds for a while or permantly. There are plenty of used tables to work on , move, buy and sell for YOU to make money on.

Everyone can be replaced, this includes you, me, any other mechanic and even Diamond. I think you will be alot happier and do just fine just working for yourself, let Diamond worry about their reputation and keeping their commitments without you.

They will still get the tables delivered one way or another and you will have alot less on your mind , make the same amount of money and have alot more free time to enjoy.

The issue with this truck has nothing to do with picking up and delivering pool tables along a route that I'm already driving. If I did nothing but work for Diamond, then even being called a sub contractor wouldn't change the fact that I'd be a Diamond employee, and therefore Diamond would be responsible for paying taxes on me as one as well.

Subcontractors are not employees. Companies do not pay taxes on sub's - they're either paid straight out and subs pay their own (pay on a PO) or they're 1099'd. Typically, subs cover their own expenses unless otherwise agreed-upon up-front.

When the guy who cuts your lawn has a problem with his lawn mower, he pays to fix it... not the person living in that house.

Edit: I promise I'm not taking sides... just clarifying. I don't know the whole story, nor who's right. I don't care, really. In every business relationship, someone is effing someone to some degree. It's all in how you work it out together. My only point was maaaaybe AZB wasn't the best move.

Sounds to me like a very enterprising individual decided to contact Diamond once upon a time and try to figure out a way to get that product to the western states.

Diamond said great idea, enterprising individual said I need a truck, Diamond said no way but we will pay you for all your travel. Enterprising individual says I'd love to do it but I still don't have a truck to transport.

Diamond says we will put up the money for one but you pay us back.

Individual says yeah but what if it breaks down, Diamond says if its major we will help out. And from there the perceptions and confusion of who's responsibility it is for what and when.

Its all just my guess this is the way the first episode in this soap went.

Glen,
Hope everything works out between you and Diamond, I'm not sure if you are delivering my 7ft table, but to all you people that are taking sides,
If I got a phone call saying the truck broke down, after i scheduled to take a day off work, and then had to take another day off work, I would be pretty pissed off, especially if I found out the truck was on it's last legs, and I had just spent 6k on a new table.

And hopefully enough time to redo my table while you're in MA:D .

My Diamond truck, and my home on the road. Yes, I live in this truck as well, as that's the only way I can get my job done. It's not like when I'm off work delivering pool tables, I can go home and eat a home cooked meal, when I've only been home about 5 weeks now in the last 16 months;)

Glen

I love the MAC Tools truck in the background. Was he there for you or just coincidence :)

You know what I'd really like to do. I'd like to Finnish making my DVDs for recovering and working on pool tables for Simonis, then buy a nice motor home to pull my trailer with, so I can then spend the next few years traveling around the country working with other table mechanics in the hopes of fine tuning our trade, and someday maybe even form some kind of a billiards technicians association that would in someway help straighten out our end of this business for the betterment of the sport.

You scare me:D If I didn't know better, I'd swear by what you just said...you were in the office back at Diamond with Greg, Chad and me listening to everything we said and talked about:D
