Observations about Meucci Cues

Recently I sent an older shaft to Meucci for a ferrule replacement not knowing what to expect. I sent it regular postal mail as I live only a few hours from the new Mississippi location and I figured I wouldn't hear from them for a few weeks. 2 days after I sent it I get a call from Meucci to get the $30 payment and to let me know it's done and they will ship out the same day! I don't think it gets much better than that for turnaround.

Another aside. At Meucci they pronounce the name mee-oo-chi, not moo-chi as I've always heard. Anybody heard it pronounced that way?

Sounds like they are improving their customer service.

How is the quality of the work?

I've never heard anyone with any seriousness pronounce it "moochi."

MYOO chee {EDIT for clarification: not My ooh chee, but mee YOO chee}

or

may OOH chee is all I ever hear.

The Italians would say something closer to the second.

Here in the deep south we can mangle words quite well.

In West, By God, Virginia it is Moochie all the way. People look at you funny if you say it correctly.

I have always heard people that own them call them Moochee. But you have to consider the source. They also think that it is a high price cue and it is for them.

When I say Mee oo chi they look at me as if I am making fun of the cue or that I am not very smart about cues.

Ignorance is bliss.

How can you expect anybody to pronounce Meucci when 99% percent can't pronounce Schön correctly!!!LOL:D

moochies

I owned one in the early eighties, my first decent cue. They were popular around town at the time and I deliberately called them moochies(mooch-chies) to annoy the folks that were overly proud of owning one! :D :D :D

Play wit a moochie, play like a poochie......:D
The worst thing has been their customer service and quality control the last decade +. Hopefully they are starting to turn things around a little bit.

I've never heard anyone say moochie, always Mee oo chi, must be the high class players I've hung out with for the last 25 years.

Funny, but true.

Good opinion on cues, especially Meucci.

When I want to play pool I bring in my Meucci power piston PP-2, which is a plain Jane cue because pool is not about looking good or impressing people with your $6000 turkey gobbler custom cue, it is about winning and beating people and I accomplish that with my plain Jane Meucci. If I want to impress people I use my PP-4 which is inlayed and very pretty. The Meucci is the easiest cue on earth to play and run out with. It gives you the most natural English which means you can hit the cue ball closer to the center which gives you greater accuracy. It deflects less than any other cue on earth also which also increases your pots and wins.

These custom cue guys like turkeys do flock together and form little clicks. They then get this monkey see monkey do thing where the head turkey is building a cue this way and they all just copy him. They never ask if that way was right or wrong, they just follow along like sheep. Some of the methods and things they do to make a cue are dead wrong, but it does not matter as long as the cue is pretty so they get by with this. Nobody is making them prove, their cue actually plays and performs. That is the great mistake being made here.

Meucci Customer Service

I have been dealing with custmer service at Budget Billiards for the last few years and I have to tell you that Darren and Julia have been Great! I bought Meucci Cues and had shafts made. I have been collecting some of the older Meucci Originals and they have matched up the collars very nice! The turn around time has been very good also.
