Ok, really - the Searing has landed...

WHAT THE SHIT...the inlayed collars are amazing. hands of a surgeon right there.

it's a shame i still have to wait for many years before my name comes up though.

Awesome cue.

I have a Merry Widow coming from Dennis this year as well.

After seeing yours, I'm REALLY excited about mine!

Congrats on your new cue!

Wow, Ross!!

You described the work to me as it was in progress, but . . . . . WOW!

Congratulations, my friend. What a gorgeous, classic cue (with subtle, modern touches).

When do I get to drool on it in person? :D

OK...when your original thread started I was a bit annoyed. Then the thread continued to grow and I became more annoyed and frustrated as I kept up with all of the posts.

Then you started this thread and WOW, I am glad I stuck with it as this is one hell of a cue!!

Enjoy!!!

HIRUN526 and I are only a few of the lucky ones that live close enough to visit Dennis at the magic wand shop several times a week. To be a witness to his genius as he assembles these works of art is both an honor and a privilege. It's pretty damned cool to hear Dennis explain why he builds cues the way he does and to actually see the explanation unfold before your very eyes.

Love the looks of this cue but..... does anyone else object to what seems to me to be the impracticality of not haveing a rubber bumper? Isn't there a good chance of damaging the butt?

I believe that Dennis might be making my cue as soon as next year. He certainly has an eye for the small details.

Bumper

Hello Jim,

The Willie Hoppe Titlist Professional cue circa 1950's was butt without a bumper and many cues ever since have been built in this tradition. Yes, it may not be practical as far as potential damage to the butt cap ring but there are many old titlist cues that have been played for the past 50+ years that are still around and in pretty darn good shape.

So, no I do not object to this type of bumperless cue, I think it is awesome. "Impractical" dosen't necessary mean it's wrong or not good to do.... sometimes "impractical" is the only (best) way to go!

Exactly - the past few cues I've ordered (and many more to come) have been in the true hoppe design. Hoppe ring and no bumper. It may be prone to damage moreso than a cue with bumper, but we who have them typically don't slam our cues on the ground, either....

Look at my Barry Cameron thread in the Cue Review section and you may see the theme... :p

What sucks is since the day it was received, either my family has been sick or I have (I'm the sick one today) so I've yet to even go play with it.... but I will today regardless.

Bringin' back the old school...

edit: No, it's not for sale, so you can save your PM's.. :D

Beautiful cue

I hope you make it your player. Beautifully understated cue. Your wait was definately rewarded. It isn't orange but man it's pretty!
Congrats,
Nick :)

Thank you for your thorough answer. I did not know those facts and I appreciate you taking the time and showing the patience to educate me. My reservations are fewer now and I appreciate the cue much more knowing the historical perspective behind the design facet.

Thanks again. Jim

I had to start a new thread so others wouldn't think I was just crying wolf....

So I get an email from Dennis last night with the tracking number... it delivers the next morning. Woohoo!

*sleep*

It got here this morning about 10:30am... Nice little email sent, Jimmy.... :p Anyways, Dennis had sent me some pictures in process so I had a good idea of what was coming, but he said there was something he hasn't done before ot the butt and that I'd be surprised... I couldn't get it out of him to save my life, and I'm glad. When I noticed the engraving, I was blown away - looks sharp!

The inlays in the hoppe ring are actually ebony inlays.... not engraved. The diamonds at the joint are ivory inlays - again, not engraved... This is precision stuff.. I've yet to see stainless steel this polished.

I'll be taking it out for a spin this evening, will let you know how it goes, but here are a few pictures in the mean time....

oh - and I'm open to listen to any offer over $9,000... :D

Whats engraved??????

You wrote "when I noticed the engraving, I was blown away", then said "ebony inlays - not engraved", "ivory inlays - not engraved". So what was engraved?

I'm assuming he's talking about the engraving on the bolt in the butt of the cue. It really does look nice.
