Olathe Ring Game Payout

Hey, shut up! I like these guys working for hot dogs & beer (soda for Tanner). :)

I am kinda curious what the ultimate goal of TAR is. Is it to become a well-oiled machine that pulls into a tournament and rolls out video & text avenues so people across the world can keep up-to-the-minute of the action (both formal and informal) going on? I'd love to see it happen although I recognize it's a huge undertaking...as you are now figuring out.

You could stream: matches on all tables, player interviews, gambling sessions,..., etc. Those same feeds could be available on demand...all this starts my head buzzing with possibilities.

I don't know what the ultimate goal is. I think it's a little tough to do a great job continually as a labor of love alone. A lot of similar endeavors have a "donation" account through PayPal. I pay for a lot of software and support boards through this method. I donate about as much as I feel I have used - sometimes $5 sometimes $20. I would do this for TAC as well.

Formally, IF the quality was good and consistent I would gladly pay the Action Report $20 a month. If I knew that at least once a month I'd be getting a jam up tournament on my screen with behind the scenes action reports then I'd MUCH RATHER spend my money on that than cable with tired old cut up ESPN matches.

Spider Guy offered to help - hey Spider Guy, you have thousands of folks like me who WILL pay for good content. If you all aren't talking to him yet then you ought to do so. What he did for the IPT is what I will gladly pay for.

John - whose head is also buzzing with possibilities.

You guys are doing great. Your interviews are some of the best. Done very professsionally. Justin you are a great journalist reporter. Take it from someone in the media business. (I just finished free lancing for CBS in LA). You are doing an unbelievable job. Dont listen to these haters who couldnt even do half the job you are doing. See you at the DCC

You know when I first saw this I was pissed. We have been here since Wednesday morning (Which by the way is the first time I ever layed eyes on or touched our new video equipment) working 12 to 16 hours a day FOR FREE to promote this event and pool in general. Add in all of the logistical problems of turning a pool room in Kansas into a broadcast studio(ever try to set up 3 computers, 2 cameras, electrical and data wiring, lighting, webpage design, and configuring wireless routers that are not yours in the middle of a big tournament?) and I am a bit on edge.

What makes it all worth it is the reaction we have gotten from the great majority of pool fans, players and supporters. It has been amazing. We thank everyone for their kind words and support. We know we won't do everything perfect. This is our trial run. We will get better.

I must admit it is the ornery side of me that wants to say the first thing that comes to my mind when I read a post like yours John. But I won't.

Sorry we didn't live up to your expectations.

What is format like for the rest of the tournament? What comes after the 10-ball ring game, and has the one-pocket already finished? Thanks again

Sorry to hear that! I know a case with that many autographs is not a common thing, but want kind of case was it and what did it look like (color, print/hides, butt/shaft configuration...)?

I believe that I heard the girl on the microphone say that it was a Black case filled with autographs that was 'lost' and she asked for it's return.
I'm heading out to the Hard Rock Poker room in a few minutes WITHOUT any sleep, because I sat up and watched the pool games ALL night (including the bangers after the matches). It was great. Thanks for making it available (and for Free too).

Action reports are everywhere, not sure where you can't seem to find them. There are a ton of thread on both forums giving little updates, but the big spot to be tomorrow is the chat room. I have been giving up to the SECOND updates. If that isn't good enough, you should fly down tomorrow. :) Dennis put a 6-pack on em... I put that in the chat room... which you weren't in. No match ups tonight yet. I haven't seen either of the two high rollers today. The live stream is just fine on google... its free, enjoy it before its gone. That's our best option. There will more than likely be DVD so check for those later. All I do is update, tomorrow I might just watch the whole tournament and update a selecet few that appreciate the updates. We are doing live scoring in the chat room... again which you weren't in. and yes.... We Are The Action Report.

Tanner, Can you tell me how to get into the chat room?

Excellent job Justin and Tanner!

I noticed the viewer count got up to 190 last night. Seems that at least a few folks were interested in what was going on over there. The chat portion was, at times, funny. Being able to see the video and comment on it at the same time was something new for me. We are all indebted to you guys, big time.

Smorgass Bored - I think I need the 7 from the guy in your avatar.

You might want to take a look at the flyer, which can be found at the Action Report. It describes the tourney very completly.

I did see some discussion that additional $$$ will be thrown into the pot, but that is unconfirmed. No sponsorship $$$ that I know of.

cool, thanks.that was a big help
how many players ended up entering the ring game? cool idea BTW

Jay: There is a link right next to the streaming video on the TAR website that takes you to a larger version of the stream and a chat portal. Just wait until the portal loads which was my problem. I launched the video into a new window and left the chat behind. Oops.

Thanks, I'll look for that. Wasn't able to make the screen larger yesterday, but enjoyed what I saw regardless. I know I would be working on this feed if I was there. Justin promised me a burger and fries for my help. Little does he know he could get me for free. Don't anyone tell him either.

When you enlarge the screen you lose the chat function. Also, the video quality does not improve, it just gets magnified, so the small video(which looks preatty good for its size) turns into a large grainy video. Kind of a give and take. I would gladly pay for a better video feed. but with 160 people watching it has a lot to do with available bandwidth.

Jay,

Go to the action report site, scroll down to where it says "Go here to view larger screen and to use chat function". This is to the left of the UStreamTV screen, at the lower left.

I was able to have the larger table at the top and the chat at the bottom of the screen but when I posted on the chat the pic went back to the smaller size. Like your experience the larger pic was so grainy that I finally elected to stay with the smaller but clearer picture. I also would pay some for better video and audio feed. It was ok when it wasn't choppy but it was choppy 90% of the time.... at least.

I put up a thread asking when it starts and got the answer that it starts at 1 pm but nobody mentioned whether the streaming starts then.

I hurt my knee so I"m hoping it starts at one and I'll have something to do while I SIT! (sick of sitting!!!!. The Diamond Pro is right here in front of me beggin to be used :( and I'm pissed off about being gimpy)
