One bank fits all?

You can't be damn serious.

SCOTT, YOU'RE OUT OF HERE.

IF THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK, YOU'RE OUT OF HERE.

WHERE'S FREDDY. GET FREDDY HERE.

Who ever heard of a bank having only one angle. You can stick a ball on the spot and bank it in the side using many different angles.

SCOTT YOU ARE NOT A QUALIFIED INSTRUCTOR AND YOU HAVE NOT THE SLIGHTEST CLUE ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE JUST PROVEN ABOUT YOURSELF.

WHO ARE YOU? So apparent by your mindless posts. I could pick you out of a lineup of 20 players....troll.

You're right! In such anger I can't even think straight anymore. I can't deal with AZB anymore and I'm going to head to onepocket.org forums

Whoa there.Don't get so upset.Come on over, you might learn a thing or 3.
Thought that was so funny when you said you were so mad that you hit the wrong button.that cracked me up!LOL You'll be alright, don't let It get to ya.John B.

how do you explain banks going long when hit soft and short when hit hard all with center ball hitting the same spot on the rail from the same spot with the same angle in
isnt that different angle out???
so to make it in the same pocket you would need to hit a different spot on the rail making a different angle in and out starting from the same place

Banks are different when hit hard because the OB goes into the cushion and changes the angle offthe rail by compressing it. Lots and lots of variables on any bank. Some shortening the angle, some extending it. I think there is one man who can best explain the physics of pool. Dr Dave? Or just check out his website.

People are paying for a qualified instructor and he says essentially there is only one bank angle on a 1 rail bank.

Enough said!

Pocket point just give us a little background on yourself. Where you play out of. Your skill level. I know we can find someone here to match up with you for the $.

Everyone forgot the most important part, and really the only important different between banking in one pocket and banks.

In one pocket you are almost always banking with a slow speed. You are lagging the ball and widening the bank angle.

In banks you generally are hitting the ball with a firm or hard speed. Sometimes you will want to lag, but not often!

The first time I can say you are right about something. Good job, keep it up.

Pocketpoint--

I'm going to show you how speed affects bank angles. First, I need you to stand at the end of the table and I'm going to put a ball in front of each corner pocket (where you're standing). Next, I want you to put a finger on top of each ball (you need this so you can feel the effects).

Finally, I'll hit the CB towards you and we'll experiment with different speeds. Let's start with "really fast".....

Because

Because young pups like you need to be put in their place...so will you put up or shutup? Show some respect, stop with the dumba$$ routine and don't be a nit.

We'd all love to know more about your game, not your observations of it.

Is this the shot where you jump the cueball into his nuts! Seen that one before.

1 bank angle.... maybe?

How's about let's agree that there's one benchmark angle, i.e., the theoretically perfect angle that exists for each bank. This angle can be altered by changing ball speed, english, etc, but the original angle is always there as a guideline. What would be the ball speed for that perfect angle? Pocket speed?

Anyway none of most of this thread has anything to do with the strategic differences between banking in One-Pocket and banking in other forms of pool. Personally I don't see how there can be much of a difference. If I'm banking, I want the object ball to go towards the pocket and the cue ball to line up for my next shot, and/or to hook my opponent on his or her next shot. The only real difference to me is between 8 ball and 9 ball, whereas in 8 ball I want to play pocket speed so my ball stays near the pocket (probably closer to the One-Pocket idea), and in 9 ball I want to play it fast enough so the ball doesn't stay anywhere near the pocket.

I can't deal with AZB anymore and I'm going to head to onepocket.org forums

Uhhh.. please don't do that. We welcome anyone there, but I'm not sure you would fit in.. just a guess. I know I don't want the forum flooded with your crap.

No,there Is allways more than one angle to bank a ball.Sorry.John B.

thats exactly right, your the best bank player alive and knew that before you could bank 3 in a row(you probably banked in 6 in a row the first time you picked up a cue ;) ). how in the world could anyone think there is one angle to bank a ball,. Anyone who can bank 3 in a row should know this, unless there is a problem with grammer and not pool tht caused the confusion here.

best
Eric

Good post Eric. I have no idea what one angle for all banks (70%) or half ball hit for all banks means. This could just be a cryptic message or I really have something great to learn. I'm all ears.

Again No!!!

Not even that is right.

Follow puts draw on the OB and makes the bank longer. Draw puts follow on the OB and makes the bank shorter.

IF YOU'VE EVER WATCHED ONE MATCH OF BANK POOL YOU WOULD KNOW. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

Sorry John, when people say things like this it upsets me. Especially when they are long-time board members and should know better.

I don't know if he is intentionally lying, that might be the case.

I have forgotten more about pool than you know now or will ever know. You really should be ashamed of yourself you are the only person in this thread who is acting infantile. I suspect you have growing to do, so I will let it go and hope that some day you will understand how foolish you sound.

Don't lose any sleep over this it is only an opinion, however, from all the Pm's I am receiving it appears that most people reading this thread agree with my opinion!!!

This will be my last post to this thread, so you can have the last word!!!:grin-devilish:

Have a nice young man!!!:)

He's gone....sigh...he was somewhat entertaining. Let's give him a few days to lick his wounds.

I don't really know what to say. But there is obviously more than one bank angle.

Shouldn't be much of an argument. But no reason to fight over it.

Tennesseejoe...Since you asked nicely, I'm happy to share with you. In what we can SOP shots (shots where neither the CB or OB are close to, or frozen on a rail; and shots where you use your normal bridge, not shooting over a ball, and not too close to the OB) LOTS of those banks can be made with a half-ball aim. This is something that every student who comes through our 3-day pool school learns. While it is not cryptic, it does seem a bit strange, and I will tell you it's much easier to demonstrate than explain with a diagram. Again, playing conditions, speed and spin are the important variables in banking. Oh, and Eric, yes I can bank 3 balls in a row!

That's interesting. I've watched the best bankers in the world, and they are primarily trying to play for straight in banks, and they want to cut the angle down.

With a half ball hit, you are now cutting the ball backwards, not something that a banker wants to do.

I would also bet that all half ball hit banks could also be made using a 1/4 ball hit, or a 3/4 hit.

There's just alot of possibilities.
