Just wondering whats your opinion on cue length and how it effect
the way a cue plays/hits ?

Most of the cue's I have played with have been 58 inches .
I have tried a few 60 inch cue's but did not care for the hit .

Anyone ever shoot with a 57 inch cue ? If so please post your opinions .
I bought a 57 inch cue that should be here tomorrow . I here the shorter
cues play well from some . Any opinions would be appreciated .

Happy Holidays Everyone !

Thanks ... Larry

hell with a happy holiday, Merry Christmas to you!!

Larry,

The length of the stick depends more on your playing style than your height or wingspan. I play with a 60" stick and like it but with the style I shoot most of the time now a shorter stick would work just fine. Weight, balance, and shaft taper have far more to do with how a stick plays than actual length anyway. I could blindfold you and let you handle a handful of sticks and you couldn't tell me which were long or short except by reaching back to the buttcap.

I put a long (30") OB-1 on my Viking G-27 and love it. It has a good feel and balance to it. Only long cue I've ever had so might have got lucky with the right combo. Johnnyt

I like 57 1/2....i did have a custom that was 54 3/4" long and it shot lights out, only thing is if you had to reach at all then you had to drop your elbow. I loved it for bank pool as I could really crank the balls in, and also it jumped, would masse and broke like a futher mucker.

I like a 60.5" myself. Played for years with a 58" and it just never felt right. I am 6' with long arms for my size.

I tried a 60" cue and was never able to find the right balance.

Maybe if I had one made for me it would be different. . . .

58" or longer...

I played with a 59" Gus for almost a year its fantastic. I played for 2 years with a 60" SW I won more $$ with that cue than any other. Right now I'm using a 58" Gus.

Sometimes I play better with a longer pole, other times I dont. I cant go below 58", even 57.5" Is no good-some shots I just cant play good with a short cue. so 58" minimum and 62" Maximum.

I played for a hour with Mike Masseys McDermott and loved it, it is 62" I think-if its 63 then 63" is my limit as a longer cue wouldnt work.

Bartrum plays with a 60" cue I believe, im positive its longer than 58" I have hit a few balls with it and its great Dick Neighbors built it.

I think Efren likes longer cues, he has long arms.

I'm 5' 10" but have a short wing span so I really like a 57 1/2. Just feels right.

About 2 years ago I bought a very old JW ( http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=108689 ) with the intent of making it my new player. It had an amazing hit and I just couldn't put it down. I sent it to Mr. Stroud and he worked some magic and it was like a new cue. After I got it back I started playing with it daily but at the end of the day it was just to short for me. I tried longer JW shafts and it just wasn't the same. I was sad when I let it go.

I'm a little short

Played with 57in. most of my life. Hated ivory ferrules so i would have the cue chopped and re-ferruled.Al Saffron in Detroit intoduced me to over-drilled ferrules[way ahead of his time].
Shortening a cue makes it hit stronger.I think shorter players need longer cues.I'm 6ft with a 6.3 wing-span.
I have a 60in cue given to me by Brigido
Quinto, the best before Parica and Reyes. It's too long for my liking.
....Pat Fleming played pretty sporty with a 54in cue.
So try everthing - if it feels right then it is right.
