I picked up this cue the other night im pretty sure its a Prather.
It has no signature . The gent. I got it from said it was a Prather and
he thought it to be pre 1993

I looked very close and the Joint / Ferrule / and rings are real Ivory .

Do you think this cue is a full splice ?
What do you feel this cue is worth is great shape ?

I am not bringing this up to start a beef with the gent. I got it from as
I am very happy with the cue and the hit of it . This is not any kind of complaint. I am just seeking some more info on this cue for my own records.

Thanks for any info you could offer...... Larry

i'd like it more if the forearm wasn't stained gray. not enough contrast in color or too much or the color's clash or something.

is that a full ivory joint?

Yes Sir. full ivory with ivory ferrule and this cue hits very sweet .

Thanks ... Larry

FYI, I had a Prather cue with the forearm that looked SO CLOSE to yours. The butt sleeve had different design and natural maple front and back.

Larry - are the edges of the joint somewhat rounded or beveled? The forearm does look a lot like the Prather style. Is the bumper push in or screw in?

Chris

I live in Enid, OK and have seen/played with several Prathers and although I do not recall ever seeing this design before I would lay odds that the forearm was made by Jeff Prather. His contact info is on the family website www.prathercue.com and I am certain that if you emailed photos attn. Jeff, he would be happy to assist you.

The joint is flat and flush . The bumper is held in place by a small allen < spelling ? head screw . I have not taken the bumper off my self as of yet .

Thanks ... Larry

Take the bumper off and look at the weight bolt. Most of Prathers weight bolts were date stamped and also stamped Prather.

Great info thank you sir.
That def. leads me to think it was made before 1994

This is from that site and the pictures of the weightbolts were cool I thought.

"We built our first cue in 1982. From 1982 thru 1993 we kept only a "pocket diary" of the cues we made and who purchased them (mostly family and friends at first). Jennifer Prather owns the first Prather Cue (cue #2) with inlaid points in the prong, while Daniel Prather owns the first Prather Cue (cue #3) with floating inlays, however, our very first cue (cue #1) with no points and only a thin veneer inlay went to our dear family friend Ronnie Kelting (Big Ron). During the years 1982 thru 1993 we produced approximately 120 cues. Starting in 1994 we began engraving our weight bolts with the "unique year" designs, along with "handwritten" signatures by Jeffrey Prather. This signature can appear nearly anywhere on the cue (depending on the design) though most are in the prong area. These "handwritten" signatures almost always say "Prather (year)" and sometimes "to (customer name) by Prather (year)" or even more personalized with a unique "eapression".

Prather started using the stamped bolt in 1994 according to the website. I am the previous owner of this cue and can atest that there is no spaming on the wieght bolt.

Thanks Troy there are no markings on the weight bolt so I think it was made before 1994 when they started marking the weight bolts.

It does look like a Prather cue. Good luck with your search.

I'M ALSO GONNA SAY INGRAM.....

THE FOREARM IS PRATHER, BUT I'D BET THAT IT WAS A CUE DONE BY INGRAM. I'VE HAD TWO OF HIS CUES WITH THIS EXACT PATTERN IN THE BUTT, AND VERY SIMILAR RINGS.

It also looks like a Jimmy Ingram cue. He used a lot of Prather parts to build cues.

I think the owner before me sent an email to Prather about this cue and it was confirmed . Im sure he will chime in here . I realy dont have any doubt that it is a Prather just kinda wondering what is everyones opinion on it . Do you think it is a full splice ? What do you think the fair value of this cue is ?

Thanks everyone .... Larry

It is not a full splice. I am sure there is a handle under the wrap.

Thanks bro. Hey if your right and it is an Ingram is it worth more or less ?

Larry

SO IT'S ALREADY BEEN VERIFIED AS A PRATHER, BY PRATHER? WEREN'T YOU ASKING WHO BUILT IT?

AS AN INGRAM IT'S WORTH A HAIR MORE, BUT NOT MUCH....

IT'S DEFINATELY NOT FULL SPLICE.
