P & B Instructor List

Ok, i am just curious. A couple of months ago Pool & Billiard Magazine had a list they termed the 20 top instructors in the U.S., or something like that. Yet none of our guys on here made the list. Most notably i am talking about Randy and Scott - and Travis Trotter too, i suppose.

Anyway, just wondering whats up with P&B on that? Was there a reason, or did they just accidentally omit our boys?

Honestly, sounds like the author was a donkey. That's like me listing the top 20 golf instructors and not listing Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, or Hank Haney.

For real, DCP.... you should know better. Just because someone writes something doesn't mean you can't wipe your azz with it.

FYI, I have links to most of the top instructors here:

All of "our boys" are rightfully included.

Dave

I wasn't on there either. OMG... this ruins everything. Please, Mike... talk me off the ledge before it's too late!!!

The list, anybody?

Does anyone have that list, and if so, would you post it here. I know someone who writes a monthly instructional article for one of those magazines. If he made the list, then it would be to Randy and Scott's credit that they were not included.....

You either, Blackjack

Blackjack, you were not on the list either? Well, that explains it. Must have been a bottom 20 list of instructors.

The list was not bad at all. There were some good people mentioned, most notably, Mark Wilson. I'm sure there were others, but I clearly remember seeing Mark's name - and that's a good thing.

Lists like that are very subjective. As long the people that I teach are learning something, that's all that matters.

That's the trouble with many lists...they're very subjective and often biased.
A player wins a tournament...his feat can't be disputed.

..think I'll start an AZ list

It's not really a list of the top 20 instructors but actually a request for reader input on who they should profile in upcoming issues. They do have a list of instructors, players, and writers with each persons website listed so you could visit them if you'd like.

Email address is: poolmag@poolmag.com

I'm sure not many readers have heard of some of the instructors who visit our forum, so here's your chance to brag them up! Include their info and website address.

The Article reads...."P&B's Top 20 Teachers!"

Here's the list:

Jerry Briesath
Phil Capelle
Dominic Esposito
Val Finnie
Allison Fisher
Kelly Fisher
Gerda Hofstatter
Thorsten Hohmann
Mika Immonen
Donny Lutz
Ewa Mataya Laurance
Earl Munson
Nick Nikolaidis
Carl Oswald
Tom Rossman (rightfully so!)
Allan Sand
John Schmidt
Tom Simpson
Shari Stauch
Charlie Williams

And no doubt #21 on the list would be Blackjack Trotter and his Cuetec Cue.

Thanks

Thanks for posting the list. It appears that the list consists mostly of people who contribute articles to that mag from time to time. Probaly explains why some the instructors you were wondering about are not on the list.

BTW, the person I was referring to in my earlier post is in fact, on the list. I am constantly amazed that he is able to come up with enough subject matter to write a monthly article. What he doesn't know about pool could fill the Congressional Library.

Mike,
Honestly, I don't have any aspirations of showing up on anybody's list - with or without a Cuetec.

I reckon that America's top three instructors are Jerry Briesath, Randy Goettlicher and Mark Wilson. Just one of them made the list. Jeff Carter also seems a noteworthy omission.

Nonetheless, congrats to all those who did make the P&B list and good luck to all their lucky students.

Blackjack, is there another Mike posting in this thread? I made no mention of a Cuetec in my posts.

Yes, I believe that DCP (DrCue'sProtege) is also named Mike and that is to whom Blackjack is referring.

These are all people who have contributed articles to P&B. Why the hate?

This forum is increasingly depressing when the hateful people drown out all the great contributors.

There are many on that list that do not even teach, including Dr. Cue. Tom is far too busy to give lessons. One notable, other than Jerry, is Carl Oswald, of Dallas TX. Carl is a BCA/SPF Master Instructor, and a GREAT teacher!
