Pat Diveney Cues...Bravo for making a totally class move!

I enjoy voting for the ACA fan favorite cue every year at the SBE event. This year there were some gorgeous cues and the rivalry between Tonkin and Jacoby cues raged on, pushing both to build bigger and better cues.

The story of the final outcome however was far more about the second runner up for me. Pat Diveney cues came out strong with a monster ivory pointed showpiece. Engraved and very tastefully appointed.

The cue included engraving and images to congratulate the cuemakers of the year, Andy and Vicki Gilbert This was truly a class move in my opinion. The cue was evaluated at over $8000 and was DONATED BY PAT DIVENEY!!!

This cue collector is impressed by such old school generosity and fine craftsmanship. Pat Diveney, I say well done. Tap Tap Tap

I checked out his web site and have tried to post a link here. This cuemaker brought the goods...and has a heart of gold. Check out his work!

Pat is a great guy who makes amazing cues! I had the opportunity to visit his shop and pick up a SP from him and one day my dream is to own one of his fancy pointed/butterfly splice style cues, just beautiful. I'm impressed but not at all surprised by this. My dad used to work with Pat and praised him highly and he is not a man to give praise easily or lightly (well, unless you're one of his kids that is!). Truly a class act gentlemen with great skills.

I don't own a Diveney, but have met him a few times. he's a guy you can trust with a handshake :)

Sorry I didn't see you this time Gian, so I could continue repaying *your* kindness one bottle of h2o at a time. :D

kudos to Pat Diveney for his move.

best,

That is a pretty cool story there...quite a trek:grin::wink:

Pat is a fine man and makes the cue that I feel is most like an extension of my arm.

And now he is making masterpieces...I wish him all the best, cue world and otherwise.

I have had the opportunity to play with one of Pat's cues it is owned by fellow AZer Joesephs, I can not believe how great that cue plays. It is fitting that Mr. Divenney is getting the praise he well deserves.

I second that about Gian, I've known him for years and we did some cue trades, I always felt I got a good deal. My main (and only hehe) playing cue is a Ned Morris I picked up from him probably 3-4 years ago and I still can't get over how nice that cue hits.

Kind words guys, thank you, but in truth, my caring actions like giving up a room reservation to my man kickin chicken or doing a solid value trade with hang the 9 are inspired by larger acts such as the one I've written about in this thread.

Pat Diveney inspires me to be a better man. Sharing his story helps our community do the same.

I may have used the word donate incorrectly...the cue might have been a gift to the Gilberts rather than to a fund raising effort...maybe another member could color that part in for me. I just know that Pat's theme in the cue design was honoring another and that his work was highly valued yet he sought no payment for the gesture when he gave away the cue. Even the fact that I don't have any more details about it is telling...Pat didn't do it to get the recognition. That's huge

Is there any chance of seeing pics of the cue that Pat so generously donated??
