I bought this Dayton cue from George aka Magix here on the board and
I was shocked at well it plays  This cue looks great the curly maple forearm has to be seen the pics. dont do it justice.

I am just wondering did I just get lucky and come across a great player or
do all of Paul Dayton cues play this well ?

Thanks for any input on this subject .

I bought a cue from Paul at Valley Forge about 4 years ago. It hit fantastic.

His cues tend to be very stiff & solid.

Paul Makes a Very Nice Playing Cue!

Larry, I'm not sure if that is the cue of Paul's that I had for a short time but, if not, I had one almost identical and it played very well :)

I know he makes some fullsplice as well as short splice cues and the one I had was a short splice but, the balance and feel of the cue was great! Paul is a really good guy and I think he makes a very nice cue for sure!!

dpaulnot here on AZ shoots with an Ebony fullsplice of Paul's and I don't think he will ever sell it

He's a great character to talk to, won't sugar coat anything, uses unbelievable wood in his cues and is a great cuemaker. He's here on AZ too!

ALL of Paul's cues play lights out. There must be something in the water...........some Florida cuemakers make powerhouse cues. Paul Dayton and Dennis Searing come to mind.

I have heard for years that Paul Dayton is like a best kept secret Cuebuilder, that get little recognition for his fine hitting Cues. Guess the rumor is very true.

I have had several and they were all great players. Paul is a great guy to deal with too!

I love Paul's shaft taper and like his quality of build. Paul pays close attention to cue balance and other details! Nice looking simple cue there Waldo.

Dont forget Showman.

Paul is one of those guys that isn't mentioned enough.......and he builds a real nice cue.

He is like a wood guru and he has wood that will blow your mind.

paul dayton cue

Mr. Paul made me a merry widow birds eye maple cue and I'm happier than a pig in slop with it. Doesn't shoot to stiff or to whippy, It's just right for my taste. Oh and the wood has some heavy figure. I think I got my $400 dollars plus shipping worth when I first hit a ball with it. good value, nice guy to deal with and heck of a nice cue .

Thanks for all the reply' s everyone I just wanted to see if it was just this cue or if all Daytons are built this well . Its seem the answer is he makes a very nice cue and fly's under the radar !

When I got this cue I knew I wouldnt make it my main player as I am not a big purpleheart fan . I like the way purpleheart plays and feels but just not a huge fan of the color . So if any of you would like this cue I would like $600 shipped and insured in the US . I may also trade up alittle if you have a nice cue for trade or would like to buy it send me a pm .

Thanks again ....... Larry

Dayton

I have owned 3 Daytons...one is being refinished right now...he did really well in Japan for quite a while, but has a small niche here in the US. He used to be local to me (before I knew of him)...so I know a little of his history. Did a bit woodworking and furniture repair, so knows his wood very well. His cues have a nice forward balance and good taper and feel to them, he prefers Ivory for ferrules, but I personally do not. He is definitely a fine craftsman of cues...and they can be got for fair prices on the secondary market.

Ill post pics when I get mine back from being refinished!

Paul makes cues that are perfectly playable for me, and everything that you hear about the woods he uses is true. Sadly, I lost my Dayton Rambow style cue when I was burglarized recently, but thankfully they didn't get my Dayton ebony sneaky. It was made to the same specs and plays LIGHTS OUTTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!!!! Dayton cues are gems...Tom

P.S. Paul's taper is the nuts

back in my gambing days i won more money that i lost playing with a dayton cue. very well made and at a very reasonable price.

I have 2 of Pauls cues now. The Ebony was custom ordered to my specs and Paul is great to deal with and makes a fine playing cue IMO. Never will let it go !!

I just got mine a couple of weeks ago. I'm so happy with it.
It got me off of OB-1 shafts. Thats saying a bunch.

I met a friend the other day that has a pretty nice collection of cues and he happened to bring out a Paul Dayton. This was my first experience with a Dayton cue and the quality of workmanship was superb, sharp points , clean and tight all the way. The 'hit' was excellent as well, not stiff but very solid and responsive. You could feel everything after you struck the cueball all in all IMO it was an excellent cue and I would not hesitate to own one if I were looking for another cue!
