i ordered a large supply of butt and joint stock today and was wondering if anyone had any use for some?the sizes are oddball,but they work perfect for me and i won't have to cut black phenolic any more,no more black bugars:eek:

i got tired of the the quality of some of the stuff going around and lack of avaiablitity of white.i ordered some brown that is supposed to be very clean.no more black dots popping up right after your final sanding.black that is blacker than the double black,it is supposed to look like the old SW black phenolic,and i have had trouble finding white so i ordered that too.

the sizes are 1.25" OD x.875" ID for the butt,and .900" OD x .625" ID.i realize these will not work for thread ons or guys with big butts,but if you need some in this size just let me know.the prices are 10-15% over cost for cutting and handling woes.buy any size you want.i had to get so much to meet the minimum order that i am overloaded.

joint prices are :tan= $7.00/ft
black= $11.00/ft
white= $13.00/ft

butt prices are:tan= $11.00/ft
black= $16.00/ft
white= $20.00/ft

if it is real nice quality stuff i will get some bigger sizes with smaller holes for eveyone.shipping charges will be whatever it cost at USPS,however you want it sent.

i forgot to say that this stuff is all being made now and won't be ready for a few weeks.

i forgot to add that it is all being made currently and won't be ready for a few weeks.
 
the phenolic is in and looks great.i lost all of my PM accidentally last month so please PM me again with orders.

Now that you have some, is the OD actually 1.250 or is it smaller. If this is 1.250, isn't it going to be VERY small, when make your final cuts? How concentric is the center hole?...JER
 
any chance of a picture close up on the tan and white if so i would like some of both thanks lee
 
it is actually over 1.25" by a thousandth or so and the hole is extremely concentric.i think they say the tolerances are .003".since my butts are in the 1.23"-1.24" and never larger than 1.24" i will have no problems final cut or any cut,in fact it will most likely only get sanded.thanks Jer.

The phenolic arrived today and it looks good. The tan is kind of a unique color that will harmonize well with some woods. Thanks, Martin

yes,it looks a little darker than Atlas' after the Atlas is cut,but i haven't sanded it yet.it mgiht lighten up a little.

i will have a few cues done with the phenolic in about a month.they will be in the gallery and you can tell what the color looks like.

i will try to get pics up next week.the colors are basically identical to the las batch we got from Atlas.the tan doesn't seem to get as light as the Atlas batch did after being cut.the white is very white and neither the white or tan have any trash or black specs.the black is just black.
 
here is a picture with the new phenolic installed on cues.every piece here is the new stuff except the 5th cue from the left.that is the last batch we got from Atlas.pictured is black,white,tan.these cues are only sealed,but it should be a good representation of what they will look like.

I've found that the brown phenolics darken when burnished with a piece of leather, after the final sanding.

Yes Joey.... White phenolic, they do sell it !!! and did you know that most pool balls are phenolic as well and you can cut and machine down used sets and have all the colors of the rainbow to make ring billets with, as I have done and you can get white phenolic ferrules from the cueball too !!!

For example 6-ball is large rings and 14-ball is small rings

I will enclose a pic to show what I'm talking about !

Yes, pool balls are made from Phenolic, but cuemakers usually use Linen Phenolic which is reinforced and much, much stronger. Some of the brown or natural Phenolics are Canvas based instead of Linen. The old Yellow Micarta was Asbestos based, which is why they did away with it.

Paper-based black phenolic was of course used by Hank Corsair for his black beauty cues.
IF someone wants to use pool balls as joint collars and ferrules, more power to them.

IF you can read a little, Mason was talking about TUBES. NOT BALLS.
LINEN PHENOLIC, not RESIN PHENOLIC BALLS.
I have bought tubes from Mason. Just got a bunch of melamine from him.
STILL WAITING for WHITE LINEN PHENOLIC but am not hopeful.
Not hopeful in finding wound paper-based phenolics and clean double-blacks either.
As usual you concluded kinda fast.
 
Joey,the white is pictured above.i posted those cues b/c some guys were asking for pictures of the phenolic.every cue pictured is made with the new phenolic except the 5th cue fron the left,which i put rings on over a month ago.that piece is from Atlas.you can also see that i changed from a .325" collar to a .300" collar,it wasn't a mistake.my ringset is so large that i tried to trim it up a bit.

with the stuff from Atlas i had pieces cut from the same tube that didn't match up perfectly the new stuff is much more consistent.

the tan is very clean with NO black spots popping up when cutting or sanding.the white is very clean and bright white with zero trash in it.the black is very black as you can see in the pics.

i know lots of guys want bigger pieces and next time i get a bankroll i am going to order some.i will post it here when i do.i just spent $1000 on shafts and $1000+ on phenolic and quite a bit more on butt wood,so i am on a budget until i make some cues.
