Placement Pool Challenge (PPC 100)

The race for 100 is on! I look forward to seeing your video.

Have you learned any non-obvious tips or tricks you want to share concerning any of the layouts?
Don´t really know. I just wanted to shoot this without any practice or seeing anyone do it. So i could come with fresh mind and own decisions. I check yours now when i have shot it myself :D.
I am still commentating layouts there most of time but can´t really remember what were my thoughts. Only noticed one really tricky layout that i notice beforehand on video too where balls are close to rail all. I think it was master layout n.2. Then i remember my last layout because i fail there but shoot myself out from it :D

P.s I remember my 2 misses too :D

Here video for 94 point score.
I accidently left OBS record system sounds so there is my metal cover playlist on background. Commentating should be still clear sound.
As always, great shooting. I hope we get more good players like you giving it a try. It is fun to see how different people approach the patterns and choose position plays.

FYI, I've added you to the official standings in the description of the YouTube video.

BTW, you were missing a stripe on Layout 12 (please be more careful if you plan to post a higher score). FYI, on Layout 15, it was OK to bump the 8. The original intent was to require 3- or 4-rail paths as shown in the diagram, but I think I like the idea of allowing any 3- or 4-rail path.

Catch you later,
Dave

PS: Nice masse shot on the last Layout!

Layout 8 (Master - 9-ball - 2) is definitely the toughest of all the layouts, but you played it well.

I just got done filming for my instructional videos for the layouts showing different options along with with "tricks" and "tips." Hopefully, I can get the editing, narration, and production work done by the weekend. I also look forward to seeing what other "tricks" and "tips" people discover on their own.

Catch you later,
Dave

I tried again today. Ran a much smoother 90 than my last. The few misses I had were early, so they cost a lot. :( I'll get there.

I expect to see a top-3 score (and maybe 100) soon. Good luck!

Here's the first of three videos in a series dealing with strategy and run-out advice for the PPC 100 layouts. Check it out:

Just shot a round. Trying to crack 70, but got a 68. For a player of my ability level (relatively poor compared to most of the guys that try the challenges on here), some of the racks are quite tricky if you don't pause a little to think about ideal position- minor errors can definitely sabotage you down the road in a rack.

I am shooting on a bar table, so there is more potential to get tripped up by traffic and my pockets are only 4 inches- you really have to bear down on some shots- also makes playing position a bit harder because there aren't many "guaranteed" shots with pockets that tight- even if it's a bar table.

Post a video soon, maybe when you reach your 70 goal. I'm curious to see where the challenges occur with your tough bar box.

Good luck.

PS: Remember, any video score gives you a free entry in the lottery draw.

heh u did shoot balls wrong order on 1st pattern second time.. 7 before 6... Not to nitpicking but.. :ROFLMAO:

I guess I deserve that after nitpicking your video. :poop:

It always shocks me when I see errors like this in my videos because I feel like I am being so careful when I film, edit, and review the video before posting. Somebody on YouTube noticed this error right after I posted the video, after which I immediately posted this in the video description and pinned comment (but I know ... almost nobody looks at those):

CORRECTION: - at 1m23s, I hit the 7 ball before the 6. Sorry about that. The message is still the same.

FYI, I just posted a new video announcing a new Placement Pool Challenge (PPC 100) with prizes to test your run-out ability. PPC 100 (which is BU Playing-Ability Exam V) consists of eighteen 9-ball and 8-ball layouts. Here’s a quick summary of the rules:
- consecutively attempt to run each of the 18 layouts in order.
- each run-out attempt ends with a miss or foul.
- for scoring, you start with 100 points and deduct points for any balls not pocketed legally.
Check it out:

Contents (with timestamp links):
0:00 – Intro
1:55 - Layouts 1-6
5:04 - Layouts 7-12
---- 8:17 - only miss
8:38 - Layouts 13-18
12:37 - Wrap Up

Let's see who will be the first to get a perfect score of 100. It is very do-able. Here is the document with the detailed rules and ball layout diagrams:

To enter the Challenge, just post your name, score, and video link in the comments section of the video or in this thread.

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy, and good luck with the Challenge!
Good shooting. What kind of a table is that?

I did record the last one- perhaps I'll post it later today.

Sounds good. I look forward to seeing where you ran into trouble. I find it interesting to see which layouts and shots cause the most problems for different people.
