Placement Pool Challenge (PPC 100)

Now it is a race to see who can post the next two 100s to lock up the top 3 prizes.

I gave this a run just now and my first pass through the whole shebang I was able to hit 90. Like everyone else, all the missed balls were the result of simple mistakes. oops! But - I'm in the lotto!! woohoo! If I get some more time, I'll give it another run. Maybe I can race you to the next 100! ha!

Thanks again for all you do for pool!

Here's the video in 5X. As it turns out, I scored 91.

Pattern 11: -1 [hooked myself on the 8]
Pattern 12: -2 [misfire resulting in bad shape]
Pattern 14: -3 [shanked the 7 ball]
Pattern 15: -3 [I flubbed on the 3 rail position and lost 3 points!]

In watching thes videos a couple of things stand out.
1. Players have "comfort zones". Player starts most layouts with the same type stroke. Stop, draw, follow or stun on tangent line.
2. The good Dr. Has some ideas that influenced how these layouts came to be. This is not a knock , as humans we all have past experiences which mold how we act/react. A example of this, I played on a gaff table where you didn't want to shoot balls down or along the long rail. Badly shimmed pocket and roll off led to failure. In the one 9ball layout I would have shot the 5 and drawn back hard enough to move the 7 and get whitey to center table. Some one else pointed this play out.

3. I was watching while wondering...what would the late great Fels have to say about applying his w.p.'s ?

Nice job! FYI, I've added you to the YouTube video description.

Good point.

2. The good Dr. Has some ideas that influenced how these layouts came to be.

FYI, I didn't come up with them. Bob Jewett did. We presented them in VEPP and I modified them slightly for the BU Exams and then just assembled them for PPC 100.

3. I was watching while wondering...what would the late great Fels have to say about applying his w.p.'s ?

Could you explain what this means? I don't have a clue. I don't even know what "w.p." is.

Give PPC 100 a go and show us a high score and video. Good luck!

I just replied. Please consider posting your questions here so the answers can benefit everybody. Thanks.
I PM'd you again, but here it is publicly. On the layout where we are to send the cue ball three rails for shape on the 7, and then again on the 9... I made the 6 ball, but did not go three rails for the 7. I still ran out. How many balls count?

I can see an argument for all the balls counting, and I can see an argument for only the 3, 4, and 5 counting. I just want to know before I post a score.

I see where you addressed this scenario. I'm counting the 3, 4, and 5. I didn't get three rails on the 6. So I lose 4 points, right?

I count this as missing the 7, 8, 9. So, minus 3.

If you didn't go three rails to the 7, the run ends there but you get credit for the 6 if it was pocketed.
