I guess I deserve that after nitpicking your video.
It always shocks me when I see errors like this in my videos because I feel like I am being so careful when I film, edit, and review the video before posting. Somebody on YouTube noticed this error right after I posted the video, after which I immediately posted this in the video description and pinned comment (but I know ... almost nobody looks at those):
CORRECTION: - at 1m23s, I hit the 7 ball before the 6. Sorry about that. The message is still the same.
After seeing a couple of errors, I thought they were Easter eggs to see if your students were paying attention. None of them have affected the quality of your posts.
I wish I could fix that somehow. If you get familiar with the layouts for this challenge, it's easier to follow.
HAHAHA! When I first started trying this challenge, I was placing the balls about 3/4" off the rail, thinking that was about half a ball. "Half ball" is actually what... 1.25"? It doesn't seem like much, but it makes a big difference.Since many setups require object balls placed a 1/2 ball from the rail , is there demand for 1/2 balls to aid in this? Asking for a machinist friend
If the table has had some play on it there will be a line down the rail where the balls roll. This is the center of the ball if your looking straight down on it. So if you set the edge of the object ball even with this line it is 1/2 ball off the rail.

The exact placement isn't critical. Eye-balling it is fine. We don't want ball setup to be onerous. You are using a smartphone to record the video, right? Most smartphone cameras have a feature where you can touch the screen with your finger to change the exposure setting based on the lighting in the scene where you touch. If you touch the screen at the center of the table, that should give good results.

Any time I make an error in a YouTube video, regardless of how small it might be, lots of people on YouTube are quick to find them. I actually like this because it forces me to try to be a little more careful, and it allows me to post a correction in the video description (and pinned comment). But I like your idea of putting some in on purpose periodically for "Easter Egg Hunts" just to make sure people are paying attention.

I have to... I can't live with that finish.
I can relate to that. The miss on my 98 was even worse. The shot was a total gimme.
I think that's the beauty of this challenge. All of the layouts are doable. Stringing them all together takes focus that I've never had before. I find the 8-ball patterns to all be easy, I only ever worry about the 9-ball patterns. Ironically, I believe my 98 and 99 were both failures on the 8-ball layouts.
Good point. It is the "easy" shots you need to worry about.
This is always one of my biggest issues when taking something like this on. I lose focus on easy shots or I start to speed up and make simple mistakes. I can play an opponent for hours with no problem but if I’m shooting by myself it’s always an issue
Even if you’re above 95% chance of making each one, the odds are still against you to complete all of them in a row.
You got me curious about this, so I just did a calculation. Even if your odds for making every one of the 108 shots is 99.3%, you are still not a favorite (less than 50% chance) to run them all.
I would not have guessed it was that difficult. Now I feel better.
